The project “Contact Create Improve Develop Quality EVS Projects" consisted of two activities including a Partnership Building Activity and a Training Course related to the quality management of European Voluntary Service, held in Agros, Cyprus and hosted by Youth Dunamics. The PBA took place in the dates of 17-24 january 2015 The TC took place in the dates of 17-24 April 2015 There were in total 32 participants in each activity from the following partners: Youth Dynamics – Cyprus, International Friends of Tartu – Estonia, Civic Involvement Development Centre Co-Participant – Georgia, Forum Mladih Makedonaca – Serbia, Asociatia Bumerang – Romania, KURO Hradec Kralove – Czech Republic, Oportunidad Europa – Spain, Praxis – Greece, ESSERCI TUTTI Societa Cooperativa Sociale – Italy, GAP Genclik Dernegi – Turkey, Comite de Liaison Diagonal France –France, National Assembly of Youth Organisations of the Republic of Azerbaijan – Azerbaijan, Centrul Pentru Dezvoltarea Relatiilor Internationale - Moldova, Associaton of Young Journalists – Armenia, Raplection – Croatia. The project has developed as an identified need to create contacts between EVS organisations but also to develop competencies that can enhance the effectiveness of the EVS support system. Accordingly, the participants were profiled within this support system and included experienced and inexperienced EVS Coordinators, Mentors and Supervisors. The foreseen objectives included: - To bring together support EVS people (coordinators, supervisors and mentors) of organizations whose activities target towards active citizenship and youth participation and provide space for cooperation. - To create new EVS projects within the partner organizations and to exchange volunteers. Partners would be supported in submitting projects for the next deadline that was back then the October 1st. - To understand EVS through the volunteers' point of view. One thing is how we perceive the EVS experience and another is how EVS is perceived through the eyes of the volunteers. We wantedto put the participants in the shoes of the volunteers when they are developing EVS projects and deal with EVS volunteers. - To practise tools and skills for the success of EVS in terms of psychological and human support to the EVS volunteers such as leading, mentoring, coaching. - To increase the competence to deal with challenging situations in intercultural contexts. International volunteering involves a lot of human interaction in intercultural environments and this fact can be either disastrous when not treated properly but extremely enriching when it is dealt with professionalism and strategically. We previewed to use creativity and communication tools as the way to be proactive towards problematic situations. - To rebuild the life cycle of EVS accounting for best practices. The programme of activities was based on fundamental of non-formal learning using different tools and methods to tackle different learning needs. Accordingly we used a series of activities in both events that enhanced communication, cooperation, understanding, mutual support and learning. In terms of results and according to the questionnaire evaluations but also the informal evaluations and results in the workshops we could say that we have managed our objectives and further more we initiated a number (7) of new cooperations, a manual in the form of a time-lined task list on how to support EVS volunteers and intangible outcomes in regards to the learning of the participants.
