Bringing about change in professional practice to accompany the individualisation of learning pathways. The domain defined by the Reunion Island Erasmus + academic consortium reflects an increasingly pressing need to redefine teaching missions and educational interactions in a context where, if we are to halt their decline in civic engagement, pupils must now more than ever be encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning. The members of the consortium recognize the importance of mobility to and from Europe as essential to implementing change in perceptions of organisation and/or teaching procedures through learning from other operational modes regarding: timetable organisation to enable young people to fully exercise their citizenship; the need to address all students needs; educating the whole person; a different approach to human resource management; a new outlook on training as a factor in student success. The one hundred and thirteen education practitioners involved in this adventurous European project, have committed to innovative actions centred on the relationship between pupils and teachers and between management and teaching staff. The aim is to improve educational performance in Reunion Island where a difficult socio-economic context is worsened by its distance from mainland Europe. Building on mobility programmes and the synergy of a group of teaching professionals representative of the wider educational community, the fourteen partner schools in the consortium will strengthen and enlarge the European network throughout the territory and will engage in innovative transnational pedagogical projects that may serve as examples for the wider European educational community. Six thematic areas will be explored: 1. Evaluating positively and openly; 2. Reinforcing co-education (parent-school relationships); 3. Encouraging and promoting pupil engagement within schools and within the local area (active citizenship); 4. Developing successful teamwork; 5. Encouraging young people to stay in school; 6. Using information technology to improve educational performance and to open up exchange with Europe. The variety of schools represented (primary schools, junior high schools, high schools and vocational high schools, education office) coupled with a diverse panel of staff (teachers, educational advisors, head teachers and senior management staff) will result in constructive dialogue and will have a positive impact at all levels in order to bring about lasting change. Four hubs (communication, evaluation, logistics and diffusion) with equal responsibility for the implementation of projects and for their continuation will benefit from the proven expertise of the partners involved. The Cellule resource will co-ordinate all four hubs and will have particular responsibility for developing changes in professional practice through the reinforcement of collaborative practices, the pooling of resources and their dissemination. Finally, the consortium will support the l’académie de La Réunion in attaining the goals set out in its strategic plan and will aid in the conception and construction of new training programmes based on the experience acquired through mobility programmes. To conclude, the Erasmus+ consortium will provide an ideal framework for the commitment of our educational community to an ambitious project to improve educational performance, to facilitate our young people’s insertion in the workplace and to allow the l’académie de La Réunion to open to the world.
