Consortium A European Network for Performance Practice
Date du début: 1 mai 2012,

Consortium is a European network for performance practice, founded by CAC Bretigny, Bretigny (FR) (associated partner), If I Can’t Dance, Amsterdam (NL) (co-ordinator), STUK, Leuven (BE) (co-organiser), and Tate Modern, London (GB) (co-organiser). The Consortium has a running time of two years in which six performance works are developed, and engages additional associated partner institutions to present the new works. We aim for a balanced representation of North-East-South-and West European partner institutions, and institutions outside of Europe. The same applies to artists we invite. For the Consortium we engage as associated partners a.o. Bulegoa, Bilbao (ES); El Eco, Mexico City (Mexico); Images Festival, Toronto (Canada); The Kitchen, New York (US).The aim of the Consortium is to improve performance art, stimulate its development, and spread its reputation as an important discipline in the arts within and outside Europe. Furthermore, the Consortium aims to stimulate cultural exchange between artists and institutions in- and outside of Europe; to improve the expertise in producing performance works within the Consortium; to share this expertise with associated partners; to let the artists benefit from the shared skills, expertise and network of the Consortium; to heighten the level of ambition of performance works; to expand and sustain European and international networks of knowledge and experience within the Consortium and with its partners; to exchange specialist knowledge of performance (history) and specific cultural contexts; and to stimulate critical discourse in the field of performance art. The Consortium wants to explore the legacies of performance art, and (re-)discover new geographical terrains where performance art is practiced. We operate on an inter-generational and inter-national level, connecting younger and older generation artists, as well as performance practices from Europe and North America with those developed on other continents.
