Competitive competences is a training course on the topic of youth employabilty that will be held in Pembroke , Malta, from 3rd till 9th august 2016 03/08/2016 - 09/08/2016 and will involve particpants from Malta (host), Italy, Czech Republic, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania and Turkey. Society has taught young persons to be lazy and to base their successes on book bound knowledge (or ignorance in this case). Students follow the rules to the book to pass their exams and to get qualified, to learn the syllabus and to move on to the next level and finally to take on the career they seek (if this is made available to them). However this does not mean that these youngsters are prepared for this career. How can they really prove themselves without developing their personality skills, their creativity, their innovation, their entrepreneuring skills and the general necessity to think outside the box in this competitive world where more experienced persons are preferred to youth.The project revolves around the need for us to develop our youths so that they are more competitive when they attempt to join the world of employment. There are many dogs for the same bone and hence employers look for minor details when they are interviewing potential new recruits. These details vary from job to job, however they travel on the lines of; how would the new recruits work in a team, would they have problems working with people of a different background to their own, what will the new recruit bring to the place of work, how the business will benefit and how with the help of recruit's new energy will the business be taken to the next level.Using the non-formal education structure and touching each of the 8 competences to direct the youth leader participants on how to develop the skills of their target groups, the trainers will run the Course to share as many best practices as possible. 27 youth leaders and 4 trainers and supporting staff, from 9 European countries will work and collaborate together for a week in Malta creating opportunities and sharing experiences to benefit the young target groups for their improved competence and skill development. The participants will go home to arm their youngsters against competition with the weapons of personal development and competence achievement. Competition may be hard in this age of financial crisis but with the right competences our youth will be able to develop themselves and succeed.
