Competences for tomorrow´s energies: A qualification scheme for biomass consultancy
Date du début: 1 nov. 2012,

The massive increase in renewable energy production is a declared, unique objective of European policy to reduce CO2 emissions significantly. Among the renewable energies bioenergy already constitutes the highest share in many European countries. The bioenergy sector is thus also increasingly important for the creation of new jobs. Nevertheless, there are significant differences in the bioenergy sector from country to country both in quantity and quality. Demand analyses as well as practical experience have shown that missing qualification is one important bottleneck for a significant EU-wide sustainable growth in the sector.Consultants and multipliers play an outstanding role in the field of bioenergy since planning and investment decisions demand high-quality consultancy services both concerning technical and organizational aspects. Consultancy projects like COACH BioEnergy clearly indicated that many consultants have general experience in renewable energies, but do lack far-reaching, specific bioenergy expertise. Q-BICON particularly will address these gaps by setting up a vocational training scheme for independent as well as employed consultants and multipliers in the bioenergy sector. Based on a detailed market and demand analysis the project will develop an innovative curriculum for a blended learning course. Besides modules focusing on bioenergy technologies and sustainability the course will also comprise teaching units to improve knowledge management and consultancy skills. The pilot course will be tested in all consortium countries. The Q-BICON partners will broadly disseminate the project results to the target audience by approaching umbrella organizations as well as individual key players in the field of bioenergy. The consortium consisting of bioenergy experts and vocational training centres has the necessary experience and skills to successfully perform all necessary tasks.
