Context and Background to the project: This project is based around the development of learners who come from deprived wards of South Yorkshire and Wirral and have personal and social problem as a result of the family history and a lack of school education, leaving with either none or few qualifications which in generally in Maths and English are at entry levels. They have low esteem. lack motivation and confidence and are engaged in a Training at Morthyng under the governments Study programme/Traineeship for staff to try and develop their Maths, English, Personal and Social Skills and achieve a Vocational qualification. Morthyng involvement in Leonardo projects over several years has had significant influence in changing learners attitudes and to motivate them to achieve which is the basis of this application. Objects of the project: To develop learners attitudes, develop their potential to achieve and progress as a result of participating in a Erasmus Plus Mobility initiative. To develop learners knowledge and understanding of the host country and the opportunities to work in the country by participating in a work placement/project. To develop new competences and skills as a result of working in a placement/project which will be accredited. To recognize Social and Cultural differences as a result of visits in the region and develop a better understanding of working together with our European partners. Number and profile of Participants: Learners will be from deprived wards of South Yorkshire and Wirral and have personal and social problems as a result of the family history and a lack of school education, leaving with either none or few qualifications which in generally in Maths and English are at entry levels. They have low esteem. lack motivation and confidence. The number of participants will be in total 120 slit into the following Vocational Sectors, Performing Arts - Spain - Tenerife - 30 Learners, Construction - Belgium - Merelbeke - 20 Learners Construction & Retail - Belgium - Gent - 30 Learners, Construction - Belgium - Antwerp - 40 Learners. Description of activities CJT vzw - Belgium - Merelbeke Construction projects in Painting and Decorating and General Building refurbishment skills, developing learner competences in using specialist paints and the use of templates and stencils to produce specialist patterns in paint work. Ground work building walls in Flemish Bond and ornamental pathways within CJT hostel grounds. Social and Cultural visits will be to Brussels and Antwerp as well as organised visit around Merelbeke and Gent, eating in local restaurants to get an understanding and knowledge of the area. Viana Shows - Spain - Tenerife Performing dance, singing and performances to local hotel guests in a variety of hotels, with choreography arranged by Viana Shows with Dress rehearsals, Costume and Make up training to match their UK qualifications Social and Cultural visits will be around Adeje and eating out in Spanish restaurants will be part of the programme to enable learners to mix with locals and understand the culture. Centrum Leren en Werken - (CLW)- Belgium Retail work placements to develop learner competences in customer Service, Stock control and Window Display in high class shops, which match the learners UK Qualification Construction will be partly in their centre working and training with fellow learners and work placements that will develop work competences and practical skills Social and Cultural visits will be to Brussels and Antwerp as well as organised visit around Gent eating in local restaurants to get an understanding and Knowledge of the area. CDO Noord - Antwerp Construction work placements and training in their centre will be the programme for these learners who will develop new skills in Tiling and Block paving as well as general construction competences. Social and Cultural visits will be to Brussels and Ostend as well as organised visit around Antwerp eating in local restaurants to get an understanding and Knowledge of the area. An organised World tour of districts of Antwerp has also been agreed. The Methodology of this project is to engage learners in work placements and or projects which have been agreed with our partners to enable learners to become more aware of opportunities available to them and to gain knowledge and understanding of the country as well as being assessed by staff from Morthyng to achieve units of their UK qualifications and gain new skills. The impact expected from tis project will be qualification achievements of learners being quicker, learner attitude, motivation and confidence will be enhanced enabling learners to concentrate on their studies. Increase in learners moving into Apprenticeships and employment. Long term benefits will be learners becoming more focused on progression and Life Long Learning. Marketing of the projects will attract new learners to participate and for it to be an integral part of the curriculum.
