Name: Compartiendo Cultura y Tradiciones. Project duration: 3 months Activity duration: 6 days: Participants number: 18 = 16 youngsters + 2 leaders from 2 organizations and 2 nationalities Goals: The goal of the program is to give youngsters a broad view on the rich culture and traditions of Spain (and especially Castilla La Mancha), as it is little known to the rest of the world. This exchange is a combination of cultural activities, workshops and leisure activities in a way to ensure that participants get an enriching and comprehensive program - experiencing culture, art, history and literature at the same time, while also learning basic Spanish and make international friendships. They will have the chance to get to know significant Spaniards in history such as Cervantes and El Greco and their cultural heritage and also to compare the two capitals - Toledo the former one and Madrid the current. We will give them the opportunity as well to discover how the most important product of the region, the olive oil is made. And last but not least we dedicate certain parts of the program for getting to know each other and each culture better in order to strengthen the sense of internationalism among the participants. Our goal is not only to show Spain to the other youngsters, but also to bring their culture to the Spanish participants and as such promote intercultural understanding and waken their curiosity for other nations and the diversity such an experience can offer. We believe that this exchange will be equally beneficial for us locally and for the other organizations internationally. Locally it will help to introduce and promote the European programs to locals as the exchange will be featured in the local media (Radio Illescas and the Sagra-42 newspaper). With the partner organizations this can serve as a basis for continuous future cooperation as well. On an broader international level this program helps to promote Spain as a country and show the rich culture and opportunities it has.
