Comparison of personnel recruitment in Poland and Finland
Date du début: 1 juin 2015,
Date de fin: 31 mai 2017
PROJET
TERMINÉ
32 apprentices of industrial clerks and office management clerks in their first or second year of apprenticeship will be participating in the project; our twin schools are Zespół Szkół Zawodowych nr 1 w Działdowie in Poland (12 participants) and Omnia College in Espoo, Finland (12 participants). Participating trainers (all in all 6 ) are either teachers with their teaching diploma in economics or company trainers, mainly with a college or university degree in business administration.
Background of the project are the low experience of the apprentices concerning the European labour market, the lack of competences and knowledge concerning personnel recruitment in Europe and low necessity of using English in their jobs. Furthermore there are increased requirements of intercultural competences, as touristic journeys to foreign countries hardly ever fulfill this task. The trainers’ programme is intended to force the strategy to internationalize our institution, shall give teachers the necessary knowledge and competences for international co-operations, improve their knowledge of foreign languages and increase the knowledge of vocational training of foreign countries. In addition, the company trainers will get to know the training within the companies abroad.
This conveys the objectives for the apprentices: acquisition of qualifications for participating in the European labour market, improvement of their knowledge of English and enlargement of their intercultural competences. For teachers and trainers, the competences to improve the internationalization of their institutions and modify their training both in school and company by using different techniques and methods are upgraded.
The project will be announced on our school’s website, in showcases, by direct mail and in the English lessons of the vocational school. The applicants will be assessed and the chosen ones will be prepared for their temporary employment abroad in three preparatory meetings. During their stay the local coordinators are responsible for supporting and mentoring the apprentices during their jobs and tasks for the project. After returning to Germany there will be the post-processing and evaluation according to the gab-method.
After an introduction to the cultural characteristics of the hosting country the apprentices will investigate and analyse the method of recruiting and selecting staff in their hosting companies. At the same time they will be working in the companies. At the end of their stay the apprentices set up a presentation about their hosting company and the recruitment method, which they present to the local teachers and trainers. After having returned to Germany both groups will meet and summarise the results in a comparison of the methods used in both countries.
The results will be shown in a presentation on the methods of all companies in both countries, which can be used in special school subjects concerning business processes and order processing. This approach has been used in our last project, PROLOG. The apprentices will also set up a presentation about the vocational system and their hosting companies. The educational staff will show their results in check lists and descriptions of the methods in the other countries, combined with an overview of the education system and personal experience.
We expect that the participants will be able to orientate themselves on the international job market more professionally than before they worked abroad. They gain competences and sensitivity to meet a different culture, to perceive it and to include thinking, feeling and acting of the foreign culture in their own actions. Through personal contacts they will achieve a positive attitude towards the European common project.
There will be gained a professional competence as a brick for life-long learning on the long-run; the participants share their experiences in their companies, their families and in society. By the project, the vocational school gets an additional push towards internationalization, the permanent curricular development will be enriched. The co-operation between vocational school and training companies will be improved significantly; future common project can be prepared.
