Communication without limits – creating a cross-border network of tourist information (IPBU.03.01.00-20-170/10)

Tourism is still an underestimated sector of economy in both Poland and Belarus. Insufficient investment negatively affects the quality of services, promotion and the overall tourism potential of the border regions of Suwałki and Grodno. The aim of the project is to create a cross-border network of 13 Tourist Information Centres (TIC) in the Poland-Belarus borderland by modernizing 5 existing TICs and establishing 8 new ones – including water TI point on the Lake Wigry/ Czarna Hańcza river.The project envisages sharing of experience and exchange of best practices among the people working in the tourism sector in Suwałki and Grodno. A significant focus is placed on the representatives of the tourism sector as a target group, who will benefit from special trainings, workshops and study visits, creation of a tourism Internet communication module, etc. The outcome of the project will be, among others, the establishment of 5 cross-border partnerships functioning in specific fields of agrotourism, tourist information, marketing, active tourism, local authorities and local media. Expected Results: The project achieved following results: 1. Creation of cross-border network of 13 Tourist Information (TI) centres/points in the cross-border area of Poland and Balarus through establishing 8 new TI points and modernisation of 5 already existing IT centres/points and then launching a cooperation between them. 2. Exchange of experiences, transfer of good practices and raising the competences of people working in the various branches of the tourism sector in Grodno and Suwalki regions – 144 people.3. Mutual recognition of Grodno and Suwalki regions represented by people working in the tourism sector, authorities and local media as well as launching a cooperation within particular sectors.
