Communicating Cultural Creativity

Communicating Cultural Creativity is an intercultural creative project, that tries to reproduce day to day life in various countries with drawings form the perspective of the children. These drawings will be sent to the partner schools as scanned images via e-mail. In each school, the visual pictures will form the basis of discussion and written accounts as interpreted by the children. The partner schools will create an agreed Powerpoint template into which the interpretations and comments will be transferred. In this way, children’s drawings from 5 countries can be incorporated into the existing lessons and curriculum of many classes forming part of the reflective process of each lesson. This, in turn, will generate a creative process (feed back and discussion). Scanned drawings can be completed, described in writing and the artwork edited.A selection of the most imaginative pictures which best describe life in each country will form the basis for a European travelling exhibition, a special Website and, eventually, an art book.(The world through children’s eyes)Videoconferencing is the platform for the visual, verbal and non verbal debate with these works of art.Lesson content can be made more stimulating and imaginative by the introduction of traditional music from each country. This can then be interpreted by paintings. (Audiofiles, Podcasts)Children of differing age groups and abilities will cooperate and work together, each group using the most suitable medium to produce their descriptions e.g. art or written work. The project is embedded in the art, language and ICT curriculum. The main expectation of the project is that by reflecting on and discussing the interpretation of the drawings, children will have more understanding for the sociocultural differences of the schools in the various areas and prejudices will be reduced.
