Common Understanding of Cultures, Schools, and Works- a French and German Vocational School Collaboration
Date du début: 1 sept. 2015, Date de fin: 31 août 2017 PROJET  TERMINÉ

Our Project is called "Common Understanding of People, School, and Work- a French and German Vocational School Collaboration". Our schools wanted to start a new partnership on a long run. As we had already some school exchange and training periods abroad, we were aware of the dangers of cultural misunderstandings. So, we decided to implement a project dealing with the cultural differences in everyday life, at school and at work. All those topics are to be related to European heritage through architecture and the evolution of the cities thanks to the economy. The different activities set during the project aimed at raising the learners awareness of the hidden patters of each culture. The linguistic and cultural immersion in both countries helped to make the awareness grow. The final task was the creation of a survival kit in order to help future pupils’ understanding of the partner's culture during their linguistic trip or training period in the partner country. The target group we wanted to undergo the project are 24 students from each of our vocational schools. They face some educational difficulties and are early-school leavers. The objectives of the project were to fight against the early school leaving by giving the pupils the motivation to learn languages and develop their social, educational, and professional skills. Moreover, the project aimed at discovering the working area thanks to companies partnership. The activities were done in pairs, one German and one French pupil. The communication languages were French, German and English. The two-year project was divided into 4 mobilities , 2 in each country. The students had to make a survey about the cultural differences at school, in everyday life, and at work. They had to observe, analyse and create some digital materials to share the results of their research. The benefits from this experience are the learners' self-confidence, the improvement of the educational, social, linguistic and professional skills with the capacity to compete on the labour market more efficiently. The impact is huge on the overall community: the pupils, the families, the school staff and the schools. The international experience has developed many skills. This transnational project is a start for a long term cooperation between two european vocational schools, the next step is to develop the partnership with the companies and send our pupils on training periods in the partner school.
