Common strategy for the prevention and treatment of child hip pathology in the Hungary- Romania cross- border area (HIP-PAT-HU-RO)

The present project is aimed at screening small children born in Timis, Romania and Csongrád, Hungary counties in order to identify one of the most disability pathology - child hip pathology in order to develop joint medical procedures and services dedicated to earlier diagnosis of the above mentioned diseases. Another objective of the project consists in developing skills on child arthroscopic procedures among the medical staff located on both cross border counties. The first target group will be up to 8,000 new born children and the second target group will be 10 medical personnel, trained to perform arthroscopic surgical interventions, 15 medical staff, trained in earlier hip dysplasia diagnosis.The general objective of the project is development of the cross border cooperation in child hip pathology.The direct beneficiaries of the present project are 8.000 new born children from maternities and paediatric hospitals from Csongrád and Timis counties which benefit from an earlier hip pathology screening procedures aimed to discover and treat hip dysplasia. A second target group is created by 10 medical personnel trained to perform arthroscopic surgical intervention and a third target group which is created by 15 medical personnel which will be trained in early diagnosis of new born babies hip dysplasia and which will develop new joint medical procedures for the above mentioned pathology.Some of the project activities and results are presented below:Setting up the common protocol and the common data base design; performing the screening on the new born target group and collecting data; preparation of screening reports and processing the data for publication; setting up a joint protocol for the transfer of special patients between the two partners; acquisition and installation of equipment; training of 10 medical personnel in arthroscopic surgical intervention for child pathology and 15 medical personnel in early diagnosis of hip dysplasia in children; organizing two courses on each side of the border with a mixed team of lecturers; organizing two special workshops in order to develop joint portfolio of paediatric medical services.
