COMINTER – Création et mise en œuvre d’un diplôme européen commun en COMmerce INTERnational

The transparency of qualifications is the widest aim of this project, which focuses on the strong need of a European professional profile in the field of international commerce: the harmonisation of a specific diploma, of a post-secondary level and non-academic, is particularly needed because of the growing role of SMEs in the European context and because of the full absence of training to specific key skills and competences in several national contexts (the Portuguese and the Greek ones, for example). The international character of a new and competitive qualification is demonstrated by the kind of tasks that at present professionals are requested in the sector and that ask for: 1) recognized competences in speaking different languages and in adopting rigorous and expert behaviours based on an intercultural awareness; 2) updated knowledge in the fields of international laws and markets laws, 3) wide availability to mobility. The 14 partners from 8 countries have already been working on a common definition of the needed profiles and relevant tasks in the sector, of the needed descriptors and indicators, of the needed certification objectives. The experience was useful for the elaboration of concertated certification units characterized by a specific consistency with harmonised training modules: the overall procedure ought to lead to a) a common pole fostering quality in methodologies and strategies, and producing recommendations to the target groups of trainers, b) a deep and coherent definition of the responsibilities and tasks of the national VET systems, c) a European network of training institutions, d) consistent and clear links with EUROPASS and ECVET.
