In our project are trainees of several programmes included. There are trainees, who are educated full time in school, we call them "Assistenten", the name of this kind of education programme is Höhere Berufsfachschule (HBFS), within this programme we have four emphases, these are Chemical technology (Chemical technicians), Biological technology (Biological technicians), Media design and information technology.Additionally to the full time in school educated trainees we include trainees (mostly Biological Lab Assistants) out of the so called dual system.The main topic of the project "Come together in Europe; technical and cultural exchange as part of vocational training III" is to provide opportunities to our trainees, who come almost out of the rural surroundings of our school, to make vocational experiences abroad in Europe.We think that the young generation of the current trainees at the time of globalisation won't be able to stay for their whole professional life at home near their place of birth or their place of youth. They will have to be ready to join companies abroad, if they want to be successful in their jobs. In Sweden, as well as in the other countries where we are looking for options for internships, the trainees will meet foreign working cultures, which will not be common to them. They will learn to be a stranger the hard way, during their four week placements. We think this will help to develop broad-mindedness and acceptance for foreign people and cultures within their companies and living environment at home in the rural area of Marburg. Hopefully they will educate their fellow pupils in this way, when they are back from the four week internships.The coaching of the students abroad will force us teachers as well. Our foreign language competences, especially our skills in using the technical language will increase by the communication with the instructors in the companies abroad. This will have positive effects not only to us but also to the pupils, who were not brave enough so far to do an internship abroad.
