The project "One World Film Clubs Romania" aims at promoting non-formal educations through audiovisual means (human rights and global issues - themed documentary films) in Romanian high-schools. It is a national project derived from a regional initiative of the People in Need Association in the Czech Republic and consists of the organization and maintenance of student-run film clubs in high-schools. The project is a national youth initiative, that will take place in high-schools in Bucharest, as well as five other Romanian cities. Student coordinators of the film clubs have been already identified and introduced to the project and they are all involved in the planning and implementation of the "One World Film Clubs Romania" project. The themes of the project are related to human rights and global issues: climate change, migration, discrimination, rasism, poverty, social exclusion, conflict, etc. The objectives of the project are to promote non-formal education among high-school students in Romania through human rights-themed documentary film screenings; to raise awareness on global issues and human rights among high-school students; to increase the use of documentary films in formal and non-formal educational contexts; to develop organizational, project management and budgeting abilities among participants; to promote tolerance, intercultural communication and independent thinking among high-school students, etc. The project will last for 8 months. There are 16 participants involved, one coach and the estimated number of beneficiaries (attendees of high-school screenings) is over 300. Activities comprise: establishing and maintaining bi-monthly screenings of documentary films in high-schools, followed by debates with guests; composing a database of documentary films to be shown during the screenings; running two workshops with participants (on general management aspects, film production techniques, and global issues); creating a website, a blog and a social network of the project and promoting the project through other promotional materials. The methods utilized are: film screenings, debates, workshops, usage of online communication tools.
