The project "CLIL- Discover the world through languages” has come into being because of a deep need of our establishment. We are one and a half year old school which has rich premises and excellent sports facilities. We employ ambitious and hard working teachers who are constantly willing to broaden their horizons, improve their skills and cooperate with the youth. We would really like to be strongly distinguished on a current education market, moreover we would like to assert our position in today’s world, in our region and our city. That is the reason why we have chosen CLIL – because WE WANT TO SHOW OUR STUDENTS THE WORLD THROUGH LANGUAGES. We would like our school to implement a chain of actions: the teachers learn the language and about language, they travel abroad (mobility), discover the geography, culture, traditions and customs of European Union countries, later they return and transmit their knowledge to students in our school. As a result, foreign language teachers teach about the world and other teachers use foreign language on their lessons e.g. Geography, Science, Art etc. Thanks to this correlations we improve our teaching skills, present a rich educational offer, give equal chances both to students coming from rural and urban areas thereby eliminating “the feeling of being from the province.” The project “CLIL - Discover the world through languages” provides us with a lot of opportunities. All teachers of all subjects will improve their skills thanks to educational mobility which is on the highest European level. We are going to create a pilot CLIL class using innovative teaching methods and information and communication technologies in order to reach our students. We would not only like to “hit” them with English language from all sides but we also want to emphasize multilingualism (German and French) thereby educating a student who is ready and is able to live in united Europe. During mobilities we are going to gain partners in order to cooperate as well as promote our school and Erasmus+ programme. There are 17 teachers taking part in the project including management executives, foreign language teachers, a mathematician, a geographer , Physics, Biology and Chemistry, History and Civics, Polish, Art, I.T teachers as well as a day room tutor. Each teacher will gain a proper background when it comes to educational mobility. People who do not know English language will join language courses in the country as well as intensive preparatory, observation and methodical trainings abroad. Moreover, all the teachers taking part in the project will become acquainted with CLIL method, they will prepare themselves for abroad trips by gathering all necessary documents and information concerning countries and cities of destination. During the programme people will also collect teaching resources, photos, albums, guide books, newspapers etc. which are later going to be used on variety of classes. Owing to the project our teachers will gain the knowledge and skills not only necessary for teaching a foreign language but also other subjects which are compulsory in public education. In their work with youths, the teachers will adopt innovative CLIL and ICT methods which are extremely important in today’s digital era. They will also use modern methods which will activate students, improve the quality of their work and the performance of the school at the same time, not to mention that all the people taking part in the programme will be more self confident in their work. Headmasters will discover the advantages connected with Erasmus+ programme. They will become acquainted with educational system and the duties and responsibilities of the management executives in other European Union countries. Furthermore, they will adopt innovative approaches and methods, broaden their educational offer (pilot class) which will attract the parents of future students. However, the most meaningful aspect when it comes to taking part in the programme is that it will have a great influence on a student itself. Owning to CLIL system and introducing innovative methods in teaching a foreign language, students’ motivation to study languages will increase. They will become aware that learning languages makes sense as they can use it while learning other subjects. The student will be educated and prepared to take part in everyday, social and career life not only in their country but also in European Union countries. The programme will enable the students to gain potentially impossible achievements. It will allow the students, especially those who are in danger of not finishing the school, to find their place in the Earth. In addition, the project will boost their level of self-esteem and it will make them more motivated to "explore" the world.
