CLIL Course for bilingual teachers/IB course for English teachers
Date du début: 1 sept. 2014, Date de fin: 31 août 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The number of pupils that has shown interest in our bilingual department has grown considerably in the last couple of years. As a result of this, we have been focusing on increasing the number of qualified teachers as well. This was one of the reasons why we applied for an Erasmus Plus subsidy. We will give a short summary of the various activities our teachers have engaged in. Six teachers have attended a week course at Hilderstone College in Broadstairs, Great Britain. During the week they had classes during the daytime and they were staying with host families. This combination was perfect to make sure they fully profitted from their stay in Britain. Morning sessions at school consisted of acquiring English language skills (grammar/vocab etc) whereas the afternoons were also filled with an introduction to CLIL skills. The combination of lessons and immersion within Brittish society is wonderful. Some teachers asked for extra assistance in order to prepare for their Cambridge Advanced Exams. Four teachers passed their Cambridge Advanced Exam a few months later and one of them actually passed for the Cambridge Proficiency Exam; unfortunately, one of them did not get the necessary points. All in all, a great result. The courses that have been attended have been of major importance for becoming a certified bilingual school in March 2016. Furthermore two teachers have been enthused to such a degree that they are now attending a course to become a CLIL coach. Two teachers attended an IBO course in Prague in March 2015. They have learnt to set up a two-year-course (Language and Literature A2) for our future IB students. The course was given by a professional IB teacher with loads of experience. He works at the International school in Brussels. Apart from Mr.Allen’s knowledge and enthusiasm, the interaction with fellow IB teachers from all over the world was also a wonderful experience. The teachers have exchanged ideas and look back upon a never to be forgotten trip. We are confident that we now have a professional team for the last two academic years at our school in which we will be teaching an IB Language and Literature course; a great asset to our school. Another two future IB teachers attended a similar course in February 2016 in Barcelona. All our teachers involved in the courses that were organised abroad, which we have discussed above, have handed in a summary. They are included in this document.
