The European Development Plan promoted by Istituto Comprensivo Statale "Cadoneghe" means to give an international dimension to the school according to the use of a foreign language, the relations with other cultures, the condivision of methodologies and teaching strategies set in different countries. Moreover, a previous experience of "mobility staff abroad" had a great impact on school work and on the participant teachers' professional development. Our school European Development Plan focuses on:-giving a European dimension to the Institute through contacts with other countries' Institutes-increasing foreign languages teachers' linguistic competences-increasing participants' knowledge, respect, valorization of other cultures-improving teaching techniques of a foreign language, especially CLIL methodology, as it is considered a useful tool to integrate the curricola that our school staff has revised, according to the New National Indications. The applicant organization selects two primary teachers, specialised in the English language since the nineties, who have regularly attended courses of linguistic formation and teaching methodology and have a good English knowledge. The course chosen by the applicant organization is provided by International Study Programmes, which has already been chosen in a previous staff mobility experience abroad and has many years' experiences in organising courses for European Ministries of Education and has a well-founded reputation for providing quality courses thanks to its teacher trainers who are experts in their fields, its wealth of course contents and its reliable organization. The course will explore features and advantages of CLIL methodology for primary teachers which is based on a flexible ad integrated way of teaching different disciplines through specific approaches to facilitate the communication of the contents in English in order to the following topics: Creativity and Art, Natural Sciences, Healthy Way of Life. Participants have to complete a detailed questionnaire before the course starts to indicate their level of experience and training, as well as the age groups and types of learners they teach and their language skills. The form of training activities used in the selected course is based on plenary sessions, working groups, practical workshops, pair works, video presentations. Communication with International Study Programmes before the course is by e-mail and telephone; follow up communication after the course with teacher trainers and also with other course participants from different European countries will be mainly by e-mail to share ideas, advice and information about future initiatives and developments in this field. The course provider arranges host family accomodation for course participants and provides cultural outings such as excursions and theatre shows, so that the whole experience lets the participants increase their knowledge of the country, of the culture, and their language skills. International Study Programmes monitors the progress of the selected course and issues a certificate to each course participant, detailing the course title, dates, location, number of hours and course content. The expected outcomes for the selected candidates by the end of the course are the following:-familiarize with examples of good practice in CLIL and motivate participants to use this methodological approach with the pupils,-give the opportunity to reflect on their own national curriculum, thinking about an integrated way of teaching the disciplines,-improve teachers' English language skills,-encourage teachers to use more ICT for teaching English in their classes,-establish links with other primary teachers from different European countries, sharing experiences, ideas, advice with them.-increase their own intercultural awareness and appreciation of attitudes and cultures of other European countries. The target groups of the dissemination activities will be firstly the pupils who will benefit from the fresh teaching ideas and materials gained on the course and secondly the candidate teachers and the other teachers of the school. Teachers will asses the impact of the activities carried out with the pupils after the end of the course monitoring the following areas:-increasing of pupils' motivation and results-improvement of pupils' foreign language competences-better knowledge and respect of other European countries and cultures-more integrated learning of the different disciplines-a better cooperation between pupils in group-worksInformation gained on the course will be shared with colleagues and with teachers of other disciplines in the same school and also in the other schools of the Institute, through workshops at teacher's conferences, exchange of materials, ideas and teaching strategies, encouragement to participate in a similar experience abroad, inclusion of the experience in the school website and possible publication.
