CLIL – A Way towards Better Self-RealizationThe ultimate reason for realizing this project is the implementation of the CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) method into the educational system in ZŠ a MŠ Klíč in Česká Lípa. In the past few years many members of the pedagogical staff in our school have made a remarkable progress in advancing their foreign-language skills. For these reasons, it is safe to presume that we are ready to implement this innovative method. Due to the fact that this teaching approach is not as well-known in the Czech Republic, we decided to attend CLIL-focused courses outside our own borders and, by doing so, gain necessary knowledge and practice to apply CLIL in our school. A total of nine teachers from our school will attend these courses in the UK, Ireland and the Republic of Malta. The content of the courses will be both general and specifically modified for a particular subject (Maths, Biology, primary education, etc.). The staff members, who will attend the seminars, will be selected from various branches (primary and secondary teachers and management of the school) to ensure the most effective impact on the school’s policy and the realization of the strategic development plan. Furthermore, two other teachers, who are constantly attending courses for developing their foreign-language skills, but have not yet got enough self-confidence in the practical language use, will get a chance to attend a language course abroad as well. We believe that a short-term stay in a foreign country, which uses the particular language, will ensure a significant rise in their level of development and will motivate them for further studies in this area. Additionally, this will improve the ability to implement the CLIL method into the curriculum.The impact of the project on the teachers, management of the school and, above all, the students themselves will be essential in many ways. Most importantly, we will focus on the communicative aspect of the language and we will enrich it with expertise.This will enable us to cooperate with foreign schools on an effective level. Every teacher will be able to put his short-term or long-term projects into practice and adapt it to the specific needs of the immediate content of the educational plan. By doing so, he will also enrich the education and offer new possibilities for students.Even though the aim of the project is focused on the education of teachers and management of the school, the ones, who will get the most out of it, are the students.
