The Bragança ‘Ciência Viva’ Centre (CCVB) includes interactive exhibits aligned with the issues on energy and environmental responsibility, a current strategic priority for the European Union - 2020, and the historical and ecological heritage for the silk worm. In the next two years the Centre faces, as objectives: (i) Exhibition contents renewal and photo exhibition related with the memory of the Micro-Hydroelectric Central (in the context of the project Eco-Hydro-Energy); (ii) Installation of the exhibition titled "Why are we as we are: evolving for 4570 million years" and develop complementary activities; (iii) Develop digital learning materials in the context of sustainable and renewable energy, underlying the potential of the Micro-Hydroelectric Central operating in CCVB; (iv) Promote and foster educational and scientific activities within the two CCVB main themes: astronomy and environment (the last supporting the sustainable energy resources). This proposal will thus contribute to the literacy development and the scientific interest increase in a clearly disadvantaged region as Trás-os-Montes is. In this way, the CCVB proposes a continuous focus on its team training, by the participation on adult training activities (courses, masterclasses, workshops, etc.), thus favouring an increase in the quality of knowledge of its members in their sense of initiative, creativity and ability to plan and develop ideas. The technical staff consists of 10 employees with a strong and diverse academic training and which, by their versatility, adapts easily to the demands of a proactive work, the constant need for renewal activities. All selected mobility actions will be organized by European institutions, and occur at least once a year. We list below the activities that we believe meet the training needs: (i) Developing successful exhibitions (The International School of Advanced Studies, Trieste, Italy); (ii) Data Visualisation and Infographic Design Workshop (Visualising Data, London, UK); (iii) Creativity Lab (IDEC. Greece), (iv) Science Communication Masterclass (University of West England. UK); (v) Enriching learning through media education and media literacy (MEDIA & LEARNING, Brussels); (vi) Science on Stage festival (Hungary); (vii) Science Week (Spain) and (viii) Astronomy Adventures in Canary Islands (Spain). The above mobility actions will be mainly geared towards the achievement of the strategic mission of CCVB, with the creation of new content and events. Particularly the courses with most technical skills can facilitate and fulfil the objectives of the exhibition. Targeted courses for science communication have as objectives the CCVB mission: the scientific culture dissemination, with the modern communication and facilitation methods and the participation possibility in practical events (festivals and fairs of science) where scientific experiments are reproducible and with a wide international spread, promoting its impact and providing access to these innovative ways to communicate. We also believe that there is amplitude to improve the technical capabilities, such as industrial design skills, content design and improving infographics used in science communication. It is also expected to be strengthened the evaluation and diagnosis capacity of the technical issues, multimedia skills and the establishment of future networking. These skills will help in planning future strategies, based on a contemporary vision of European and/or world reality, in the context of science communication and environmental sustainability. It is expected through the resulted outputs of this project the following impact: (i) Socio-economic (local and/or regional, national and international/cross-border), (ii) Promoting employment and training towards more qualified professionals and (iii) Impact on different audiences, it is expected that the new activities and materials designed can contribute towards providing new opportunities for science learning. This proposal aims a wide dissemination and exploitation of results, designed to enrich the learning of science at local, national and international level, to ensure the long-term impact and sustainability of the results proposed in the CCVB strategic plan. We will include multiple instruments, such as: online publications, flyers, posters, brochures; teaching materials, design kits and astronomy workshops. There it will be expectable the presentation and publication of the project results in national and international level conferences, journals publications, participation in science fairs and festivals, building thematic networks and enhancing the visual identity of CCVB. Thinking in the sustainability goals that society faces today, these training courses will enable the CCVB team to support the prevailing science crucial issues, encouraging its clarification and also acting as knowledge facilitators in the society.
