This project is under Erasmus + program. Key action 1 (KA1) - Learning Mobility of Individuals. Action - Mobility for school education staff. Title of the project - "Through innovations and new technologies towards key competencies in education" Starting date 01-06-2014. Project duration 12 month. Name of the applicant: Tsar Simeon Veliki Secondary school The school policy follows the EU policies in the field of Education and the strategy Europe 2020. The project's main goal is : To raise the quality of students' key competencies and to give international/European dimension to the curriculum and to reduce early school leaving (ESL). The project's objectives to gain this goal are: 1. To update the methodology and the educational tools in school subjects from the key competencies field. 2. To raise the effect of students assessments trough new technologies in Education. 3. To learn new methods to reduce the number of early school leavers. 4. To enhance the European collaboration and embed it into the curriculum. Tsar Simeon Veliki Secondary school has 967 students, from 6 to 19 years old. The school's staff numbers 87 people - 9 in the school management and 72 teachers. 14 of them have foreign language competences, so they can attend educational events and courses abroad. There are 7 mobilities in our project, 5 of them to attend structured courses and 2 to attend educational event. Criteria selection is provided. The planned activities are: 1. Five people will attend 4 structured courses in other EU countries on topics under the main project objectives. The topics are as follows: - Learning mathematics through new communication factors. - New methods and tools used to prevent early school leaving. - ICT as a tool for multicultural education. - E- portfolio for teachers and students. 2. Two people will attend an educational event abroad - a conference. It is about European collaboration and students' work on European educational programs, to reach European studies knowledge. 3. Find partners among other schools who attended the mobilities, for collaboration under KA2. 4. Start small eTwinning projects. The projects can be initiated by all members of school staff, not only by staff, who are direct mobility participants. As a result from the main activities: 1. The participants gained the new quality of teaching; 2. The participants raised their motivation to work for better educational skills in the future. 3. The participants improved their language competences. 4. The participants obtained new communicational methods in mathematics. 5. Implementation of educational portfolio for students and teachers and gained working skills. 6. ICT as a tool in multicultural environment. 7. Gained new methods of preventing early school leaving. 8. The school plan for collaboration with other EU schools under the different educational programs is developed. 9. New eTwinning projects started and new teacher accounts have been created. The project impact is not only for direct project participants. The project also provides courses and presentations which share the methods, tools and resources, learned on the time of the mobility project with: - school's staff; - educational stuff from other schools; - foreign schools; - town management; - local community; - parents; The potential long term benefits from the project will improve teaching of key competences. It will also reduce early school leaving. The new system of students' evaluation, using educational portfolio, will give parents more visibility on the educational progress of their children. The educational portfolio for teachers will help the development of new educational strategies. The international collaboration and the knowledge of EU will be improved. The connection between theory and practice will be improved. All this will make the Erasmus + program and its abilities more popular.
