Chicago in the Picture
Date du début: 1 janv. 2015, Date de fin: 31 déc. 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

Chicago is a youth club in the center of Brussels, Belgium. We work with youngsters and children with fewer opportunities; most of them come from Moroccan immigrant families. Emancipation, participation and empowerment of our public are our main goals. We will host Khaled, a volunteer from Turkey for an individual EVS. Khaled will be working as a youth worker, side by side with a Chicago youth worker. he will be considered as a member of the team but with limited responsibilities. Khaled will work with teenagers every day: help with homework, organize activities and workshops on sports, theatre, photography, video and so on. He will also prepare and do weekends and camps with and for them, inform them on EVS, ... In the beginning he will always work together with a youth worker. In that way he has the time to build a relationship with the youngsters. When he is ready for it, he will have the chance to develop his own workshop or activity using his experience and capabilities. He will especially engage himself in our football project, coaching and supporting the development of our new indoor football team. With his photography background he will add value to our intergenerational projects including photo shoots. He will also work together with our young volunteers from the neighborhood and coach them, in their development in- and outside of Chicago. We believe that we can offer our volunteer a unique inter cultural experience, organizational skills, experience in empowering youth work and participation, artistic youth work, theatre, sports, workshops, .... He will gain insights in the internal dynamics of an immigrant neighborhood in Brussels. And vice versa for kids and youngsters it will be interesting to work with Khaled. Chicago is a very multicultural environment but we welcome any form of extra stimuli for our youngsters. Meeting Khaled from Turkey will help them have a better understanding of the globalised world they live in.
