Cherishing cultural identity in Latvia-Lithuania border region using means of artistic expressions (Cultural identity)

Communication and cooperation between communities in Latvia - Lithuania border region are the aim of Latvia-Lithuania cross border cooperation program. As this program is developd several years, we can notice that cooperation between these communities became more quolified. Nevertheless, we have a lot of space for improvements in this field. for this reason, we are promoting this idea and bringing new project. Auce local municipality and Naujoji Akmene music school have a huge experience in previuos cooperation, but in order to continue this beutiful relations and exchange of good experience they are going to implement new idea: to cherish cultural identity in Latvia-Lithuania cross border region using means of artistic expressions. LP - Naujoji akmene music school, PP2 - Auce local municipality, direct beneficiary - Auce music school. The objective of this project is to promote communities in Latvia-Lithuania cross border region foster their cultural identity and find artistic ways to do this. For this reason partners have indivated such goals of this project:1) to focus cross border comunity for joint activities, which will encourage to reveal cultural identity of each nation; 2) to share best practices between comunities and partners institutions by working, learning and creating together; 3) to identify variuos types of means, which can be used to reveal distinctive cultural identities of latvians and lithuanians; 4) to encourage young people cherish their cultural roots; 5) to promote pegagoges cooperation. There is only 15 km distance between project partners - Naujoji akmene music school and Auce county municipality. During the process of project implementation the following long term goals will be achieved:increased and more efficient involvement of latvians and lithuanians in the arrangement of joint event and activities, information about national identity of each country will be disseminated between comunities, and the most important goal - long term and existing cooperation between partners institutinios will be secured, so they can continue their close communication. Expected Results: Members from both partners institutions and communities will participate in joint events: concerts, festivals, seminars, camp, exhibitions. There are planned a lot of joint activities during this project, so children, employers in partners institutions, and all comunities across the border will be able to communicate and to share their experience, attitude and to reveal their cultural identities. All this will encourage communities for further cooperation in the future. Technical documentation will be prepared to LP- Naujoji akmene music school. This property is given from Akmene district municipality council to music school (management in trust, by decission 2011.04.27 Nr. T-119.) LP is wiiling to renovate this building, to make it more attractive and econimical and to establish new art and music school after renovation. During the project there will be one adult training department in each partners institutions. The duration of training - 50 hours. This training will help to inveolve more people in the project. "The Art academy' is an event for disabled people. It will be held in Lithuania. During this event disabled people from both partners countrys will create art works by painting and moulding historical symbols of Ziemgale. Also they will have apportunity to play variuos musical instrument in order to express them selves and to show thei identity to other people. Summer camp in Lithuania for children from both partners institutions. During this summer camp children will work together by composing musical. Living and working together in not such tarditional place (campsite) will encourage young people communicate with childres from partners institutions, in order to find common solutions. The art plenere "Spiritual dimension of Ziemgale". This plenere will start in Latvia, in historical land of Ziemgale. Children from both partners institutions will have mini excursion to famous and historical churches in Auce, Priedule and Naujoji akmene. Participants in this plener will expres their feeilings in the art works, whic will be demonstrated in the exhibition. It is planned to organize joint events on the occasion of both Latvia and Lithuania Independence days, to organize concert of sacral music in Latvia for childre from both partners institutions, in order to know each others religiuos roots and cultural, to perform common compositions. One more performance - concert of adult training department in Lithuania. Both aprtners are responsible for these performances. During project implementation it will be organized 4 music festivals: 1) Jazz festival in Latvia for children from both partners institutions, encouriging them to communicate, work together and find best ways to show their cultural identity. 2)Pop rock festival in Lithuania for children from both partners institutions, 3) Chamber music festival in Latvia, 4) Folk music festival in Lithuania related with old heathen Zemgale traditions. Both partners responsible for these festivals. Bras forum in Latvia will be organized. It is huge gathering of the winds. Children from both partners institutions will perform common compositions. This forum will encourage communities from Latvia-Lithuania cross border region to think more creatively, to communicate, to find new ways of their cultural identity expression. Both partners responsible for this forum. Two exhibition after art plenere Spiritual dimension of Ziemgale. Second exhibition eill be organized for the works created by disabled people, the third exhibition will be devoted for the independence day in Latvia, the fourth exhibition will be devoted for independence day in Lithuania.
