CONTEXTThe project idea relies on the evidence of common needs in Europe related to the insufficient diffusion of scientific culture and awareness, that starting from the school level (primary and secondary education) affects all levels of educational systems.The Chemistry Is All Around Us project n° N° 167126-LLP-1-2009-1-IT-KA1-KA1ECETB aiming to develop common European strategies to promote Life Long Learning in the Chemistry issue, has identified the role of the School system, as the key one to overcome the obstacles that tackle the diffusion of a the knowledge of Chemistry knowledge to present and future citizens.AIMSThe aim of the project is to share knowledge between European teachers and scientific experts in the field of the diffusion of Life Long Learning within the Chemistry related issues.Specific objectives are: - Enhancing the interest and stimulate the active learning process of pupils of all educational levels, concerning Chemistry. - Present Chemistry under a renewed and positive attitude, by giving evidence to how it affects our everyday life and how it can contribute to the explanation of many phenomenon that people encounter everyday. - Create a Network among different educational institution for the exchange and comparison of experiences and knowledge in order to develop and exploit a new “language” to be used to fill in the gap between the world of scientist and researchers and school teachers.RESULTS - Availaibility of Database of papers and publications addressing the theme of innovating and making more attractive the teaching of Chemistry in European schools - Availability of a Database of reviewed existing ICT based resources and materials for Chemistry teaching - Creation of a Network of Scientific experts and teachers - Organisation of 6 international Conferences in order to present and discuss the National and the Transnational Reports on the innovation of Chemistry teaching methods and practices.
