The realized project called WE WANT TO KNOW HOW was based on our long - term experience of international cooperation and our needs in the area of the professional development of our teaching staff and at the same time it was based on our school´s effort to incerase the level of quality in several areas.
WE WANT TO KNOW HOW TO TEACH, and at the beginning we wanted to focus on teaching English as a foreign language as we understand the importance of the foreign language communication in the field of modern technologies, culture, jobs etc. The generation of our pupils cannot do without the knowledge and acitive usage of foreing languages, especially English. The priority intention was to provide teachers of English with a chance of their further professional development both in studying language and its teaching. We realize the importance of comparison and exchanging their experience, meeting their colleagues from other european countries and the possibility of starting their own personal contacts or even friendship. They were given this opportunity by the realized mobilities of prefessional development - language and methodology courses abroad. The planned mobilities were intedned and finally realized both for primary and lower secondary teachers of English so that their newly gained experience can effect as many pupils as possible, not only pupils in specialized classes (classes with extended language tuition). The final number of teachers involved in the language - methodology courses of English was 6.
WE WANT TO KNOW HOW TO COMMUNICATE in English, increase the language self-confidence of our teachers who teach other subjects, not English. Our effort was, and aslo will be in the future, aimed to involve as many teachers as possible into the planned and prepared projects of international cooperation and partnership of schools so that the teachers could take part in the project in an active way, be able to communicate with teachers from the partner schools at the meetings and mobilities. We do not want communication to take place between the language teachers only as it used to be during the previous projects, we want other teachers having a chance of adequate, non-mediated cooperation which is only possible with a good level of knowledge of English. The number of teachers involved in English language courses was 2, none of them was a qualified language teacher.
WE WANT TO KNOW HOW TO MANAGE AND LEAD as we think school is a living organism, constantly developing. One of the most important factors of development and progress at school is motivation. The successful school management, in our opinion, must be able to lead the teachers, to lmotivate and stimulate them not to stand still but together with the management to move on and on. That is why we consider the area of school management and leadership very important and we happily used a chance to include it into our project. The number of participants involved in the management course was 1, a deputy head.
During the period of the project realization we closely cooperated with a tried and respected mediation agency, especially in the logistics issues - choosing the suitable courses abroad and practical logistic issues. Each participant of the planned mobilities had to go through self-evaluation, present a written report to the school management, share the gained experience and materials with the colleagues, and together we did the best to inform the city authority, school pupils´ parents as well as public to disseminate the experience.
The Socrates and Comenius projects - both school partnership and teachers´ mobilities - were of a huge contribution and inspiration for our school in the previous years, and the re is no doubt we gained the same benefit and inspiration with the realized Erasmus + project.
All of the participants of the mobilities took part in the courses in the towns of The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland - Brighton, Edinburgh, Exeter, Oxford and London. The total number od the days of realized mobilities 1 day exceeded the planned number. During the project realization we did not have to face any serious problems or troubles and expectations all of the participants were surpassed.
