Objectif général :Le projet CHARM 3 a pour but de contribuer à la préservation des ressources marines en Manche en approfondissant les connaissances sur les ressources marines de la zone et en fournissant des outils pour améliorer la gestion durable de l’espace Manche.En effet, l'éco-région Manche, une des zones où le trafic maritime est le plus intense du monde et constitue une voie de passage obligée d’une partie des masses d’eaux entre l'Atlantique et la mer du Nord. C’est aussi un secteur très riche pour la pêche professionnelle car on y trouve de nombreuses espèces commerciales, des zones de nourriceries et de frayères (ponte), des voies de migration, liées à des conditions environnementales caractéristiques. Une connaissance approfondie de cette zone maritime est nécessaire afin de préserver ce fragile écosystème soumis à de fortes pressions anthropiques. Principales actions :- Inventaire des donnés physiques, environnementales, biologiques et d’activités humaines disponibles en Manche.- Inventaire des taxons planctoniques caractéristiques et de la variation spatio-temporelle de la production primaire.- Inventaire des Ichtyoplancton.- Etude du rôle des espèces benthiques invertébrées « ingénieurs » et identification des habitats benthiques sensibles.- Classification des habitats marins.- Cartographie des données d'exploitation commerciale des espèces halieutiques.- Cartographie et modélisation de l'habitat.- Elaboration d’une étude du contexte économique et sur le changement climatique.- Etudes sur les approches fonctionnelles et modèles de réseaux tropiques.- Création d’un plan de gestion spatialisé de la Manche Orientale.- Mise en place d’une base de données multidisciplinaire avec métadonnées.- Développement d’outils : adaptation de l’extension CLUZ, Outil SIG d’interface pour ECOSPACE, gazetier.- Création d’Atlas Internet interactifs.----------------Main objective :The CHARM 3 project aims to contribute to the Channel marine resources preservation by enhancing marine resources knowledge and providing new tools to improve a sustainable management of the Channel area. Indeed, the English Channel, one of the world’s busiest areas in terms of maritime traffic, is also where water masses transit between the Atlantic and the North Seas. This area also supports key fishing grounds as a result of the presence of numerous commercial fish species, nursery and spawning areas, migration routes, all related to specific environmental characteristics. A deeper understanding of this maritime area is hence needed so as to preserve this fragile marine ecosystem, which is subjected to strong human pressures.Main actions :- Inventory of available physical, environmental, biological and human activity data in the English Channel- Inventory of the planktonic taxa and spatio-temporal variation in primary production- Inventory of the ichtyoplanktons- Study on the role of “engineer” benthic invertebrate species, Identification of sensitive benthic habitats - Marine habitat classification- Data map of marine fisheries- Cartography and habitat modelling- Study on the economic situation and climatic change- Study on functional approaches and tropic modelling- Creation of a marine spatial planning in the eastern Channel- Implementation of a multidisciplinary database with metadata- Development of tools: Adaptation of the CLUZ extension, GIS interface tool for ECOSPACE, creation of a gazetteer - Creation of interactive web atlas Achievements: Principales réalisations / résultats :- 5 campagnes en mer réalisées sur le Normandie liaison Ouistreham/Portsmouth et 3 campagnes réalisées sur l’Armorique liaison Roscoff/Plymouth et sur le Thalia navire océanique de l’Ifremer.- 3 campagnes d’échantillonnage de macrobenthos subtidal réalisées.- Présentation d’articles à des colloques internationaux : IIFFET, Portsmouth Business School Research and KT Conference 2010. ----------------Main achievements :- Realization of 5 sea surveys on the Normandie (Ouistreham/Portsmouth line) and 3 on the Armorique (Roscoff/Plymouth line) and the Ifremer RV Thalia- Realization of 3 subtidal macrobenthos sampling surveys- Presentation of articles during international colloquia : IIFFET, Portsmouth School research and KT Conference 2010
