Change Builders

Two youth workers, that will be chosen for every partner, will take part in the training “Change Builders” which will be held in the ecovillage ‘Ca’ dei Venti’, in Tuscany (Italy). The training period will last seven days (the day of arrival and departure are included) in May 2015. The aim of this project is to promote new strategies of group facilitation and to provide new methods of community planning.
The participants will be people with personal or work experience in group facilitation and through non formal activities, direct involvement, and emotional body work will have access to new methods of analysing the presence of conflicts in a group and understanding the evolution from the ‘dream’ to the finished project.
The participants background and their direct experience of living together in an intentional community will stimulate them to think about sharing and sustainability, which are key factors of the “Dragon dreaming” method. This will help the youth workers to know deeply all the steps that characterize the development of a project (planning, implementation, evaluation, celebration).
The facilitation method learned and analyzed by the participants will be the Consensus method. Through this method the participants will acquire knowledge about minority and majority dynamics in groups, about decision procedures, about the role of individuals in a group and about facilitation that will be able to practice in their operative contexts.
Due to the diversity and peculiarity of the chosen partners, the training could have an optimal impact on the community where the participants can now intervene by using their just acquired competences in facilitation and project planning.
The participants will have diverse profiles and experiences but will be united by the strong motivation of discovering group dynamics and by the curiosity of experiencing themselves in a sustainable environment. Everyone will take part actively in the development of this training through non formal education activities, body exercises using physical space to work on relationship network, decision making processes and role-play of conflict situations.
In the end of the training the participants will have gained competences also in the field of community building and personal growth. We think that the project will have a long-term positive impact on the participants. They will not only acquire competences and the potentiality of using them in different areas of their own life, but they will also improve other competences which will professionalize and increase their perspectives of work. In the same way there will be an impact on the partner associations and on the groups in which every youth worker has his own background. The kwoledge learned by the participants will have an impact on these groups and can become useful tools in group management.
The partners can decide to receive a feedback from the participants about the possibilities that facilitation and project planning can offer to their communities.
