Challenges of the European Union: an approach for Senior Students
Date du début: 1 sept. 2016, Date de fin: 31 août 2017 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The innovative Project: “Challenges of the European Union: an approach for Senior Students” is aimed at promoting knowledge and dissemination of the values and principles which set up the basis of the EU, as well as its institutions and policies, among the participants in the Senior University of the province of Lleida. For this purpose we have designed a working programme that covers not only the city of Lleida but also the other 13 centres of the province up to a total of 14. In this first edition, the objective is to reach more than 1000 participants in the total sessions of the Project. Among the proposed activities there is a series of seminars in the different centres of the Senior University. The topics, which will be covered, have been selected by the teaching staff due to their expertise in line with the interest of the target group. Therefore, a wide range of topics will be discussed: COP21, right to privacy versus security, Brexit, health policy, peacebuilding, European borders, TTIP or the deepening of the eurozone. Summing up, the current challenges of the EU will be object of a public debate. As complementary activities, we propose, in the first place having a multidisciplinary roundtable on the role of the EU in the formation of adults and its effects in Lifelong Learning. Another complementary activity will be the Seminar about “Challenges of the European Union for the following years”, to be held in November 2016 and in March 2017. The Seminar is aimed at analysing in depth some topics which may have not been covered in detail during the set seminars. Furthermore, these activities will be opened not only to senior students, but to the general audience including university students and citizens of Lleida. Finally, two last complementary activities are planned to be held concerning the assessment and quality control of the project. The purpose will be to highlight the weakness and strengths of the performance in order to facilitate a second edition.
