CEZMEJNI KONCEPT 4R + 3E

The project aimed to foster a cross-border waste management partnership so as to improve the region´s competitiveness at the European level, move beyond the traditional concept of a state border being a constraint to development, promote sustainable use of natural resources and protection of the environment in the everyday life of the region´s people and society, increase environmental awareness and improve living conditions of Slovenes and Croats from the Neighbourhood Programme area, initiate cross-border cooperation on improving the state of the environment, particularly when it comes to waste management. Achievements: The project instigated environmental protection processes (cross-border actions of environmental patrols, a green telephone service, cross-border disposal of used batteries) and raising awareness as well as training regarding inovative environmental activities and balanced waste management (cross-border workshops, animation workshops, meetings of cross-border waste management groups). The project enabled the crossborder cooperation on encouraging business clusters and exchange of experience with waste management in Adriatic ports and establishing eco-schools. The results also included the making and broadcasting of a 35-minute report on the project along with examples of good practices, broadcasting an animation video and organising training courses on waste management. The project led to a Slovene-Croatian partnership based on sustainable development through the use of the 4R+3E waste management concept in the border area.
