The Project Tourism through the eyes of young people in the EU was designed for students of Secondary vocational school with field of catering and tourism in Nitra, which it has been cooperating with vocational schools abroad in the field of tourism for several years. The school also has established stable partnerships with employers - restaurants, where students gather valuable practical experience. The goal of these partnerships is preparing graduate for practice conditions in accordance with the requirements of the market in Slovakia. Implementation of the project met the strategy of the school, particularly the implementation of new teaching methods from abroad in field of practical training, internationalization of education in vocational subjects and enhance competencies of teaching staff to use new methods, evaluation of learning and management processes. Goal of the project - by realization of a project we wanted to support the acquisition of practical skills by performing of quality foreign practice and facilitated the development of expertise, different procedures for the profesional life, to acquire skills in the field of gastronomy and hotel services, strengthen personal development of students in the approach to clients, strengthen cooperation and establish integrity in the context of tourism within the EU. 24 students participated in the project. They were students of the 2nd-4th classes from fields of Professional services in tourism, Waiter and waitress, Cook. Part of studies of those fields is also required professional practical placement and training where they obtain practical skills related to theoretical studies, also they recognize during practice a real work environment. The project reflected the needs of students of all mentioned fields during acquiring knowledge and practical skills in particular, in addition, students increased their social competence and independence, ability to work in a foreign environment. During the practical placement they also could extend their linguistic competence in the language of the host country and in English, which was the language of communication during the project. The main activities of the project is internship training for students, the internship was carried out in the Czech Republic and Hungary. The range of placement for both countries was 14 days. The focus of activities by learning and the field of study of participants: Services in tourism - Get known the closer surroundings and typical dishes of residence, particularities of the Tokaj region, a system of cooperation of wine producers with service providers in the tourism, work as travel agent, system and forms of cooperation among travel agents and wine producers and wine cellars in Tokaj, learn the typical characters of Tokaj wines, their preparation and form of presentation - Acquired skills in accompanying clients on the Wine Route, Tokaj region monuments and sights, attractions of the region, in processing of the presentation of the region, in the processing of half-day itinerary for tourist activities in the region of Tokaj - Get know the closer surroundings of the Highlands and its typical dishes, natural features and tourist particularities of the region with a focus on hiking, local brewery, historical monuments, mines - Acquired skills in accompanying clients through the historical monuments of the Highlands and natural formations, organizing additional services of tourism such as sports tourism, wellness services, cultural events, sports events, processing the presentation of the Highlands region Cook - Get known the food from local region by tasting them and working with them, become acquainted with the preparation of dishes using wines characteristic of the area and the principle of a combination meal with wine - Acquired skills in preparation meals from cheese, meaty foods, side dishes, vegetables, desserts typical for the local cuisine, learning about the wines and using them in food preparation - Get known the food from local Highlands region by tasting them and working with them (vegetables, fruit, flour, fish, meat, cheese, meat products), introduced with the preparation of dishes typical of the region, especially dumplings and meat - Learned to adjust and prepare meals - soups, meat dishes, side dishes, sweet and salty pastries, dishes of cheese, the use of spices, they learned to prepare Czech pastries and specifics of preparation of dumpling Waiter/waitress - Get known the wines of Tokaj region, their characteristics and serving - Improved their serving skills, mainly during serving in a typical facilities in the Tokaj region and in the 5* Hotel, finalizing meals in front of guests, at a tasting of food and wine serving for meals in wine cellars, they improved in their barista skills by preparation of various types of coffee - Learned to choose the right wine with meals, beer brewing technology
