The proposal aims towards the development of a certification system for executives and volunteers working for NGOs and in particular to evaluate and accredit non-formal and informal education and training (knowledge, skills and competencies they have acquired through their experience).NGOs have, over the years, played a significant role in social problem-solving & public affairs. This has led to a rise in voluntary activities in all parts of the EU. Despite developments, obtaining a formal education & training in the field has not yet been developed to its full capacity & potential, leading to a majority of executives, employees and volunteers in the field without any formal education or training or recognition of their knowledge, skills and competencies.For this reason, the suggested project will ensure that these executives, employees and volunteers are given the opportunity to certify and validate the knowledge, skills and competencies they have received informally through work (or volunteer work) over the years. The consortium of partners will include a wide range of types of institutions who have had previous experience in the materialisation of similar projects and who will contribute constructively to the materialisation of the project. The consortium of partners consists of an association of voluntary organization, an NGO, university...etc. The partners will be capitalising on their previous experience and extending this experience through the specific project.The suggested project will lead to the development of an outline with the necessary knowledge, skills and competencies that employees and executives (and volunteers) should have for working for an NGO and in the sector in general. Further, the project will develop a system of certification using three main steps: (1) CV evaluation, (2) on-line test and (3) case study presentation. The participants in the pilot process, in each of the participating countries, will be tested on their knowledge, skills and competencies which they have acquired informally through their work. The successful participants will receive a European Certificate for Executive & Volunteers of Non-governmental organizations. Further, the project web site and e-learning platform will be developed will information and materials for all interested parties, a network of NGOs will be created and a business plan will finally be composed for possibilities of commercialization of the European Certificate.
