TERMINÉ
Central College Nottingham has a proven track record of offering European Mobility opportunities to its learners. This project seeks to continue this excellent initiative with a number of mobility opportunities within the School of Sports, Tourism and Public Services Construction and Lifestyles. There is a great importance for Colleges to be preparing students not only in vocational excellence but in the skills needed for enterprise and sustainable employment, which are the key drivers of the Project. This project involves 3 different schools of learning which have specific needs for each; however there are some common key overall objectives and expected results which apply for all. We would like to carry out this project to support our students in:- enhanced employability and improved career prospects through work experience and training in real work environments- gaining new skills through assessment & recognition of learning through new and innovative training - building confidence through working in new environments, - problem-solving skills through the preparation and independent living, - life skills through travel and meeting people of many nationalities and cultures, communication skills through interaction with professionals in the UK and abroad, - basic language skills, cultural awareness of custom, history and economy through preparatory sessions and immersive experience - teamwork skills through working with participants from the College and partners, - transferable employment skills in resilience, commitment and reliability, validated via the EuroPass. Sports The sports stream of the project will focus on providing a core of the College's elite level footballers (Male & Female 16-19 yrs) with an opportunity to take part in two week professional training camp/work experience at Sportilia, Italy. The aim of the project will to increase the employability of participants leading to success as a professional footballer or gaining employment in a secondary career pathway. The objective of the camp would be to provide participants with an opportunity to learn new European training methods, techniques and philosophies whilst living and working as a professional footballer. This will include innovations in physiological development, dietetics, coaching delivery, tactical analysis. Additionally, regular training sessions will form part of the experience which will address the defined sports performance targets set before the visit and cardiovascular training will be studied and used to improve skills acquisition and player development. Participants will also take part in sessions based on lifestyle/nutrition, dealing with the media and post-match recovery. Construction The project will provide carpentry students from the School of Construction at Central College Nottingham with an opportunity to gain a two week placement in Germany with a prestigious vocational training college - KomZet Biberach. The target group are QCF level 2 and level The mobility includes training at the college on new methods of sustainable construction methods/energy saving in timber construction as well as cultural and work related activities organised by the host partners. Additionally, the participants will complete a range of short units from a programme in carpentry - focusing on roof construction, dry lining and air tightness. It will enable participants to develop the skills necessary to work on a variety of roofing in the built environment. It is hoped that this mobility project will contribute to the beneficiaries´ upskilling, by helping them gain new and highly demanded skills in thermal insulation of buildings for more energy efficient construction. Energy Rating of Buildings is now a part of construction sector in the UK, so increased knowledge in the area represents a benefit.Lifestyle The project will provide a unique opportunity for Hair & Beauty (H&B) learners, studying at our professional salons in the UK, an insight into an alternative career route in Europe and what it's like to be a small business owner/Self-employed. The mobility will offer our students a two week work placement at Novella Hair Mode in Nicosia - Cyprus. This will include giving them a chance to add some European work experience on to their CVs, further development of their employability skills (interpersonal, communication, numeracy, time keeping, confidence, etc.) and learn about new skills and techniques within H&B. A key element of this stream is the opportunity we will have to promote entrepreneurship/start-up businesses or working internationally within spas in large hotels - Cyprus has seen a huge growth in luxury hotels which presents this unique opportunity. There are a number of reasons why we want to do this project as the sector is still unstable with high staff turnover, low wages issues still an issue.
