The project took place in the city of Milan and involved four organizations : the host organization CELIM, coordinating organisation JOINT and two sending organizations , one armenian Armenian Progressive Youth and Ukrainian ISKRA. The project was born from the meeting of the association CELIM , which has a long experience in the field of social intervention and voluntarism and JOINT who worked for years in European projects of EVS and youth exchanges . Celim is an association that has as its objectives and methodology tolerance and promotion of multiculturalism and interculturalism. For this reason, beginning to accept EVS volunteers in their projects in Italy was an added value to the activities of CELIM . The project proposed by them , was of great educational value , this is the reason why JOINT decided to perform the procedures for accreditation and training of CELIM to be the host organization for EVS volunteers . In particular, the objectives of the project were: - Intercultural learning for both the volunteers and staff of the host organization and the cultural exchange with young foreigners ; - Offering a highly formative experience to the volunteers; - The improvement of the educational workshops organized by Celim in schools ; - The approach of the Erasmus program Celim+ as a first experience in the role of host entity that acquired experience association with the aimed of continuing this type of activity ; - For JOINT , restart to be coordinating organization in Milan in order to afford to get volunteers in the organizations of the city and to gain experience in hosting in our apartment, where EVS volunteers will live with Italian university students ; - Provide an opportunity to people with fewer opportunities; - Increase their skills to promote their employment opportunities; - Increase the capacity of sending organizations through the best practices gained by the volunteers . CELIM hosted for a duration of 10 months 2 volunteers, one Armenian and one Ukrainian, who have been selected considering their interest in the project, their previous experiences in the field of education, the usefulness of this experience for their future careers, as well as to a minimal knowledge of Italian. The activities of the volunteers was been mainly related to the field of education and teaching : they were followed by the staff of CELIM in the preparation of lessons , and during their execution ,they were be also involved in school support for children with learning difficulties. Their interventions focused on education for tolerance and to the global community and they participated in the development of creative workshops for children . The activities took place according to non-formal methods and intercultural approach . At the end of the project all the entities involved (associations and voluntary ) completed a process of intercultural learning that was better the skills of all the entities involved ; the volunteers improved their competence in educational field and this will facilitate their integration into the working world and also they will be able to disseminate the good practices acquired to their sending organizations.
