C2CC - Connexion to Care and Career

Early school leaving is the result of a long and complex process. It’s s not only about school, it’s a social problem. Nevertheless the prevention of drop outs seems either the responsibility of the ROC (Regional Training Centre) or once they have left school, from other organisations such as youth care and social welfare. In the Province of Groningen (NL) all those parties are working together to some degree, the result of personal effort rather than considered planning. It’s very difficult to build a sustainable and useful system of cooperation between all actors. The objective of the project C2CC (Connection to Care and Career) is to implement a regional model for intensive co-operation between educational organisations and other actors. We transfered parts of the Finnish Guaranteed Training Model where there is a liaison between these two worlds. This model is based on multi-vocational guidance and support, flexible co-operation in working life, support to educational responsibility as well as enhancing the students' life management and increasing their experiences from working life. Transferring the model to Groningen and integrate parts of it into the systems of Germany and Lithuania is the first step on to a European Training Guarantee model. But the greatest benefit is that youngsters are guided in a clear and effective way and that the amount of dropouts is reduced.
