At School Centre Nova Gorica (SC NG) we have been successfully organizing projects of LDV-IVT for thirteen years. In new programme Erasmus+ we apply for one-year project called "BUILD UP – Building up competences, skills and knowledge abroad". We have five school organizations in Europe as foreign partners, because we think, it is more qualitative and easier to organize on-the-job learning work places for smaller groups abroad. In this way hosting organizations can with certainty provide appropriate jobs, it is easier to arrange documents for on-the-job learning work place and ensure qualitative implementation of the project. We will continue to cooperate with partners from Sweden (Köpings kommun ), Germany (F+U Sachsen gGmbH), Estonia (Rakvere Ametikool) in Finland (Koulutuskeskus Sedu in Jyväskylä College).
We apply with five schools involved and variety of technical upper secondary education and vocational upper secondary education programmes. Therefore the organization of mobility is more complicated, but at the same time more various, because students of different programmes get to know each other, they socialize and are upgrading their personal skills.
The basic purpose of the project is to enable on-the-job learning for students of vocational and technical education programs in computer science, electrical engineering, wood processing, car mechatronics, nursing care, gastronomy and trade and to acknowledge their work. Duration of the on-the-job learning for different programmes varies, that is why mobility will last from 2-5 weeks. Additional project objectives for students are: to come familiar with education system of host country, to upgrade theoretichal knowledge, to know better the procedure of work and changes set by the foreign labor market, develop language (communicating) and intercultural competences (knowing customs and traditions of new countries) and actively spend free time (get to know with culture and history of host country).
We want to speed the cooperation between VET institutions in Slovenia and other countries. Intercompany Training Centre as one of the units of School Centre Nova Gorica in which LLP and Erasmus+ projects are coordinated is working with several organizations in Slovenia such as Institute of the Republic of Slovenia for Vocational Education and Training, The National Education Institute of The Republic of Slovenia, Ministry of Education and Sport and other foreign organizations.
Over the years we have learned that the best way is to work with educational organizations which help us to find on-the-job-learning work place in their workshops, companies, at craftsmen and in other companies. We are increasingly work on principle of reciprocity, which means that we host foreign students from partner’s organizations every year. We have signed letters of intent for five partners, which means they are also applying for Erasmus+ (KA1) project. Effect of good partnerships is that our students can gain qualitative knowledge. Within implementation of the project we want to improve skills of professional flexibility. In free time abroad students are socializing, getting to know with peers from other countries, are establishing new contacts and upgrading knowledge of foreign languages, different cultures and countries.
