BUILDING BRIDGES: Youth 2wards Integration
Date du début: 31 août 2016, Date de fin: 29 nov. 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The rise of immigration and the current surge of refugees coming to Europe has sparked a questioning of European culture and identity as well as, the role of minorities in Europe. The challenges we are facing are concerned with further disparities between majority and minority cultures and more socio-political fragmentation as a result. We are concerned with how this will impact the future of Europe and all of its inhabitants. We believe that there is a paramount necessity for empowering youth to become leaders for change. We see an imminent need for youth leaders and youth workers as being essential in creating bridges of understanding, compassion, constructive dialogue and peaceful coexistence. The aim of the project, consisting of two interrelated activities, is to facilitate and encourage tolerance, intercultural communication, cooperation and awareness in order to equip youth workers and leaders, with the necessary foundation to significantly improve the quality of their work as well as its impact. We see active participation in the social and political sphere as essential and, we believe that a creative, strategic and efficient social and political campaign is only possible through empowerment, awareness and with the necessary knowledge and tools. The ERASMUS+ programme and framework allows the opportunity to learn from and with each other fostering new partnerships. It is our aim to contribute to the ERASMUS+ programme through, the expansion of its values and strengthen European and international networks .The partners being from Sweden, Germany,Greece and Jordan have been chosen taking into consideration their working topics and vision, which are in congruence to our own: Diversity, tolerance, migration, refugees, social movement and political engagement being among those. We are all strongly committed to the appreciation for diversity, proactivity and engagement, dialogue and solidarity, participation, inclusion and democracy. We find it vital to have a Middle eastern partner who can contribute with a similar cultural background, to that of our current refugees and can contribute to the learning experience. Our wish is to ensure that we learn from and with each other. We are planning to make two activities which are interlinked and complement each other. The activities of the first training will focus on diversity, identity, intercultural communication and migration giving the participants the necessary knowledge basis, tools and skills that will be the foundation upon which the second training will be based; wherein the focus will be on leadership training and campaigning for awareness and social inclusion. The result and impact we wish to achieve, is that all participants feel that they have grown and gained valuable insights, knowledge, tools and skills that will help them both personally and professionally in their lives. Moreover, ensuring that they will disperse their learnings, become leaders in their own communities and be active citizens promoting inclusion, dialogue, tolerance and peacebuilding campaigns. Our methodology is highly participatory, interactive, engaging and using non-formal learning methods. Diversity in the group of participants is viewed as a resource for the exchange and transfer of competences paying special attention to the intercultural dimension of the programme. There will be a few lectures, as the main part of the courses will be in the form of learning-by-doing using creative, innovative and experiential learning using the full toolbox of non formal education. The trainers will make sure to create a supportive and safe learning environment taking into consideration the needs of the participants. Participants are coached and encouraged while mastering learning objectives and challenges contributing to their personal as well as professional and organisational development. Throughout the trainings there is a synergetic process of creative input, learning to learn, feedback and self reflection. The trainings are tailored so that the learning points are relevant, empowering and transferable. Hence, we produce exhaustive documentation, provide templates for the different activities, create action and goal plans and have self reflection diaries. As part of our methodology we rely on the ongoing use of web 2.0 tools.
