Building a learning and welfare school culture. Best practices on new methodological approaches and on learning foreign languages.

As a relatively new school, the leadership team is facing the challenge of guiding the development of the school and setting the basis for its education. The modernization is crucial and to adapt the school to the students needs and modern society is considered to be vital. In this context, from the beginning different projects have been conducted and in the last year we have set off for an innovative global project.The objective of the project is to transform our school into an innovative organization with a student-centered learning approach with the use of active methodologies and effective use of ICT. The importance of the learning space is also considered as an important goal. The fact that the environment directly affects the students mood and consequently the learning process can not be avoid. Thus, considering that a new adjacent building will shortly be built as part of the school, we intend to build “friendly” environnmets where active methodologies can be implemented.The number of participants will be seven members of the teaching and management staff. All of them are actively working on new methodologies and ICT and are involved in training in these areas. Their profils are the following: Person 1: Head Teacher, who will further develop the school policy plan and will be the responsible of the objectives attainmnet of the global innovation project of the school for the period of 2015-18.Person 2: Active Methodologies Coordinator, who will be the responsible for innovation in the field of Active Methodologies and the responsible of new teachers training on PBL. Person 3: Blok-tac Project Coordinator, who will be the responsible of Project Based Learning implementation in the 1st and 2nd Levels of Compulsory Secondary school and for the competences based asessment.Person 4: Coordinator of the European Programs of the school, who will be in charge of KA2 application. She will be responsible for making proposals on best practices in foreign languages learning.Person 5: Coordinator of ICT of the school, who will be the responsible for innovation in ICT and dissemination of best practices in this field. Person 6: Chief of Studies, who will be in charge of providing new ideas into design of contemporary school spaces and learning environments and for making proposals on this field to the Administration Board. Person 7: High qualified Technology teacher, who will be the training assistant and coach for the implementation of PBL and CLIL.The activities organized will be those arranged by Euneos (Course organizer, http://www.euneoscourses.eu/?cat=8). Visits and guided tours in school premises and other Centers, classroom observation, demosntrations of innovative Finnish tools and applications for learning, discussions, workshops, etc.The methodology used will be: A general introduction on each of the topicsClassroom observationsSharing experiences and expertise on the topic in workshopsCreating output, working individually or in groups Learning from Best Practices in Finland schools and organizations and sharing experiences with colleagues from other european countries within the Benchmarkinhg course would have a significant impact in our organization. The results and Best practices will be brought back to our school where the participants will prepare a development plan and try to get teachers and students involved in these new practices and innovative project activities.By means of this KA1 project, pupils and teachers will benefit from developing bilateral and multilateral ties with other European schools. All the new proposals for actions and innovation in the classroom, will have a positive impact on the academic life of students and teachers.
