The project « Bubbles, In and Out » is an artistic youth exchange gathering 20 teenagers aged 15-17 from France, Greece, Spain and Estonia, for 19 days, from July 9th to 27th, 2016, to experiment an intercultural meeting in the heart of a rural area, in the village of Laguépie, in South-West France. The common intention carried on by our organization as well as our partners is to raise youth and local people's awareness about the positive effects of youth mobility throughout Europe, to help them develop citizenship and improve social and technical skills in cinema and comics books. Beyond collective life, togetherness and meetings with various kinds of local communities, our aim is to bring the participants to share their thoughts on mobility, and traveling in general. We'll have the opportunity to discuss the topic with elderly people working on their own past experiences. We'll take part as volunteers in a multicultural open-air movie festival in a medieval village, going there hiking and coming back rowing a canoe, and in a comics book festival in another village nearby, where we'll present some of our group creation. Yes, because comics books and cinema will be our tools to explore the topic of travel and mobility. The participants will be helped by two professionals through the film shooting and producing techniques as well as the drawing and comics books making techniques. The goal will be to create a singular exhibition as a kind of “travel book” mixing comics strips and short movies resulting from the participants' reflection work on mobility throughout the project. Audiovisual and graphic productions will be posted on a dedicated blog and showed and presented during their exhibition opening reception in the new Laguepie second hand bookshop, in the end of the project. These productions will highlight the intercultural dimension of the exchange and enhance the reflexion of the participants. The audiovisual and graphic works will be used afterwards by tall he partners to promote European youth mobility. The project will end with an international open meal in the village where the participants will have the opportunity to present their countries and cultures to the local people. For the latter, we hope this project will be for long reminded of as an invitation to discover and open to others. Finally, this project is a way to become widespread, to broaden one's viewpoints, and open one's eyes on the surrounding world. As the romantic French writer Marcel Proust wrote in his famous book, In Search of Lost Time, “the only real travel (…) is not to go and see new landscapes, but to get new eyes, to see the universe with somebody else's eyes, of hundred persons' eyes, to see the hundred universes that each of them sees, that each of them is”.
