The project Building Bridges Europe refers strongly to current challenges the European Union and Europe have to handle. The different activities apply to requirements of European policy and youth policy. An important focus lies on the demands of social inclusion and diversity. A very important aim of the project is the activation of young people with fewer opportunities, as they are defined by the Inclusion and Diversity Strategy of the European Commission. An important target group of the project are young refugees. The participants of the different activities are coming from Germany, Poland and the Ukraine. The partners are cooperating with other institutions and organisations in their networks to engage people with different background in the activities and to receive and inclusive setting in the participant groups. The participation in the project offers to the youngsters intense learning possibilities and experiences, which can positively influence their self-perception and have an positive impact on their life situations. The project aims to make meeting between peers possible, who’s perception of each other is strongly influenced by prejudices instead of own experiences. The project Building Bridges Europe has three different activities: The first activity is an international and inclusive youth meeting, which will be realised in the Trebnitz Castle Education and Exchange Centre in May 2016. 30 youngsters will be participating, coming from Germany, Poland and the Ukraine. In the inclusive group there will be youngsters with learning difficulties as well as young refugees from Berlin and Brandenburg. Because of very positive experiences in using circus in this kind of projects, this approach is also used in this project. By learning new things together and a lot of common experiences the youngsters get to know each other in a natural way, questioning own fears and barriers. The second activity is also a youth meeting taking place in the International Youth Meeting Centre in Krzyzowa/Poland in June 2016. 24 youngsters with fewer opportunities from Germany and Poland will participate, some of them being refugees others having a migration background. Together they will discuss diversity and identity and they will have a dialog about European values. An important aim of this activity is also, to question own perspectives and images, which are strongly influenced by the media. The third activity is a training course for multipliers from Germany, Poland and the Ukraine. It will be realised in Octiber 2016 in the International Youth Meeting Center in Krzyzowa/ Poland. The aim of the training will be to provide and promote inclusive education approaches. During the training the 18 multipliers will get an insight into educational work with different groups, e.g. refugees, they will also get to know methods from the diversity approach and antidiscrimination work, which they can apply in their professional contexts after the training.
