BringArt FrameWorks Workshop specializes in renovating second-hand bicycles and giving them away as a donation. Our main activity is to renovate and re-paint frames in collaboration with voluntary teenage students whom we invite from the Secondary School of the Novus Art Schools. The Novus Secondary School offers special secondary education in visual arts within the curriculum and welcomes disadvantaged students (economically disadvantaged or those with different kinds of learning disabilities. One of our main aims is to raise awareness of the value of voluntary work amongst young people, to clarify its principles and advantages for them. Another essential thing is to spread the idea of environmentalism by supporting biking as a means of transportation and re-cycling old bicycles. A third aspect of our project is to promote social welfare, to help the socially disadvantaged and people living with disabilities: we donate the renovated bikes to different organisations or institutions – eg. special residential or therapeutic schools, or to any other establishment of this sort – who might be in need of them. The BringArt group's members are youngsters between the age of 18 and 30, supported by a coach with a deep pedagogical knowledge. Our task is to recruit secondary school students and to supervise the workshop. The project lasts for six months (from February 2011 to July 2011).We're planning to set up our studio in one of the Novus Schools' building (1-3, Olof Palme sA©tA?ny, 1146 Budapest). Our cooperators, Bikekitchen Budapest (their volunteers are going to fix the bicycles; the group is a member of HuMuSz, Waste Prevention Alliance) and SkyLab (who are doing the final treatment on the frames), are also based in Budapest. Although we seem to be quite attached to our beloved capital, we are willing to donate the ready-to-use bikes outside of Budapest, to any organisation or institution all over the country.
