Bridging Europe and Africa - a Social Initiative

The project “Bridging Europe and Africa - a Social Initiative” or BE AS I will be developed under the action “Capacity Building for Youth” and will involve 4 partners from Europe and Africa. These partners are Asociatia de Tineri din Ardeal, from Cristuru Secuiesc, Romania as coordinator and Aventura Marao Clube from Amarante, Portugal, Câmara Municipal do Tarrafal de Santiago, Cape Verde and Minangan, from Ketou, Benin, as partners. The duration of the project will be 20 months, from November 2015 till July 2017, and it will include 4 main activities: I) 1 Workshop for 24 youth workers held in Amarante, in February 2016 for 7 days.II) 2 Job Shadowing activities, held in Amarante and Cristuru Secuiesc for 2 - 2 youth workers, in May 2016 for 31 days. III) 2 Meetings for middle evaluation and planning EVS, held in Tarrafal and Ketou for 4 - 4 participants, in July 2016 for 3 daysIV) 2 European Voluntary Services held in Tarrafal and Ketou, for 4 - 4 participants, from September 2016 till March 2017. Beside these main activities done on international level, the project will also include 2 awareness and fundraising campaigns which will be done during the Job Shadowing Activities.The main aims of the BE AS I project are to - Foster the cooperation of EU-Africa in the youth field, empowering the youth workers and it´s associations from Africa and Europe to tackle social and cultural issues under NFE methods. - Develop skills and competences in project management and NFE methods, through which the youth workers from African and EU countries will improve the quality of social activities in their communities.- Empower youth associations, promote participation, active citizenship, inter-cultural dialogue and through the campaign, solidarity between EU and African countries, and- Develop new training methods and tools such as manuals and brochures which disseminate the project results and the new knowledge base gained among the networks of EU and African countriesIn the different activities of the project we will use non formal methods such as energizers, simulations and role-plays, brainstormings, team building, visits, inter-cultural activities, work in small groups, media tools, etc. All the 40 direct participants of the project will go through various learning processes related to project management, non-formal education and personal development, ensured by the above described non formal working methods and reflection activities. These learning achievements will also be recognized and certified by the organizers.Throughout our activities, dissemination measures and outcomes (brochures, tool books, facebook, youtube, vimeo, website and so on) we expect to reach a minimum of 10400 youngsters from all countries involved in this project.
