Project background: The HTBLVA-Ferlach is a technical school located in central Europe. The mission statement of the school is internationally inclusive and reads: “Grenzenlose Bildung - Boundless education - Formazione senza confini - Brezmejno izobraževanje”. At the HTBLVA-Ferlach, students have the opportunity to study subjects such as weapon and safety technology, among others. As the oldest department of the school, weapon technology has attracted many students with an attractive subject paired with a high level of education. During their studies, students must complete compulsory internships for hands-on work experience. Project goal: The project’s primary goal is to create internship placements for HTBLVA-Ferlach students in European weapon technology companies, in order to prepare participants for future international projects, and to allow them to share the results. Description of activities: The home institution is the Alumni Association of the HTBLVA-Ferlach, which maintains excellent contact with all department alumni. Students will be prepared for their internships by project coordinator Andreas Mack as well as subject experts. Special attention should be given to professional behavior, smooth execution of organizational practices, the continuance of cultural and linguistic competence, and especially the development and internalization of subject knowledge and ability of participants. The selection of the internship placements and definition of the conditions will be established by the project coordinator. The following students may complete their internships at international companies: Pollinger Lukas -> Fa. Blaser; Andreas Feichter -> Fa. Blaser, Thomas Keck -> Fa. Blaser, Weißhaupt Hannes -> Fa. Umarex, Kunz Matthias -> Fa. Umarex, Eckmayer Jakob -> Fa.Heckler&Koch, the time period of employment should be from 01.07.2014 until 30.09.2014. Project procedure: Subject experts will explain the function and execution of the weapons to the participants as it pertains to each specific production area. This should serve as a cultural exchange and internationalization for those who participate. Outcome: The planned activities should serve as a model for future cooperation and allow for future emulation. All met measures should have a positive impact on all European education systems. Finally, such activities give many young people better chances for their future careers and development. With the appropriate medial presence, this will be available for all interested parties. Project results: The results should be analyzed through the Learning Agreement, in which the internship’s time period and duties as well as the procedure for the verification of the results have been predefined, and should be agreed upon by comparable and measurable records such as ECVET.
