PROJET
TERMINÉ
The project "Books and MORE" stands by a more modern, dynamic, committed and professional environment inside the schools.
It will be carried out in four European schools in Lens (France) , Delmenhorst (Germany), Rzeszow (Poland) and Penalva do Castelo (Portugal).
In the project is considered that our students are regular users of modern media, however they do not necessarily use it effectly and do not neessarily reflect critically on the impact which modern media has on their lives. Digital Media are an important part of modern life. Students are highly motivated to use elearning in addition to traditional methods of learning with books in school libraries.
We would like to increase the reading and writing motivation in the mother tongue and the foreign languages taught in each school. Digital reading literacy is a crucial competence. Students should be able to critically analyse the value of media offered and to make the right choice while consuming media. By creating an ebook we want to improve a reflective use and creation of digital information. The objectives pursued by the project "Books and MORE" is to improve the level of key competences and skills of young people. All the school subjects are involved in the project, especially mother tongue, foreign languages and IT.
Our daily routine is totally changed by using modern electronic media. We are always connected through social networks, always contactable and the internet offers us a giant source of knowledge. These possibilities changed our writing and reading habits totally under the transition of our modern life in a knowledge society. Actually the schools are in the tension between traditional learning situation with books and a modern approach of learning by using electronic communication technologies. There are great changes going on in the methods of reading. In addition to conventional printed text we read more and more text in digital form. It is important to enhance the ability of both teachers and students to read, produce and analyze electronic material.
Therefore modern schools need modern rooms and suitable technology to work with the computer. Modern schools also need more practice to impart the knowledge of using modern media especially the internet. Reading literacy by using electronic media must be practiced in each subject and not only in IT lessons because students are looking for the necessary information in the internet without the corresponding competence which is a huge issue.
We want to prepare students for the use of various sources of information. Therefore we want to analyze their habits in order to make them aware of their status quo and to broaden their competences in searching and filtering information. We want to guide their development into proficient users of technologies. We will prepare students for self-study and the use of media as an academic and intellectual work tool.
At the meetings we are going to read printed text and electronic media, diaries and summaries. In addition we are going to write about current events and if possible illustrate the writings. Between the meetings we will keep in touch through eTwinning and social media.
The long-term aim is to make students knowledgeable users of electronic media and give teachers hints on using electronic media in teaching.
