BONNEVILLE-CHYPRE-UN PONT ENTRE ALPES ET MEDITERRANEE
Date du début: 1 juin 2014, Date de fin: 31 mai 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

Senior trainee-waiters and trainee-cooks at François Bise vocational catering school are given the opportunity to join a «euro class». The students of euro class are taught how to cook and serve in English. For the last three years, these students have had the opportunity to complete a 7-week traineeship in Cyprus, thanks to the European Leonardo Programme. That programme will be implemented until 2015, and yet the 6 remaining grants are not enough for the whole class to participate in the project. Besides, thanks to the positive experience of the last traineeship sessions in Cyprus, we have decided to apply again for an «ERASMUS+» project this year. This would enable the whole group of senior euro students (24 students) to take part in the project and go to Cyprus next year, and to carry on with our next senior euro students -- still in first grade this year (24 students). For three years now, our school has grown more and more enthusiastic with the project, and new students are willing to join the euro class, hoping to profit from it too. Through the experience reports by previous «Cyprus» students, actions at school (Cypriot meals, postal art exhibition...) and articles in the press and on the website, that programme arouses much enthusiasm among euro class students, and thus participates into fighting against students dropping out of school. It also matches our objective contract which highlights all international projects as a way to success. Our students will carry out their 7-week traineeship in high-end international hotels with extensive accommodation facilities and a world-wide clientele. As a consequence, they will develop language and professional skills which will be validated by the Europass Mobility Europro certification and make it easier for them to be hired in any European country. As they will discover a country with major economical, environmental and geopolitical challenges, their sense of being European citizens will be raised. That professional experience will enable them to develop intercultural skills and will lead them on the path to autonomy.
