According to a report by OECD, Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, many countries have been making ICT investment in substantial amounts in order to provide high quality learning and teaching service, qualify people as required by modern society, and for their social and economic success. Modern societies need such schools that raise individuals who can solve problems, manage their own learning process, and think creatively and independently. That’s why there is a trend for schools that are supported by ICT. One of the important roles ICT plays in schools is that it brings a new approach that can make better improvements in learning and teaching practices. In this sense, it has been observed that in order to use ICT efficiently, our school personnel need to know about content, open strategies and models related to curriculum. Here the aim of our school, which set out for the purpose of being a modern and innovative institution, is to train teachers who make technology a part of their teaching experiences and make students more enthusiastic for learning. In this regard, our teachers must gain competence to be able to use ICT resources more actively while applying new teaching strategies that can make students participate in learning process efficiently instead of being passive learners. Teachers are supposed to perform their roles efficiently such as guiding, helping and leading students to use ICT in education effectively. Within the scope of ‘Fatih Project’ by Ministry of National Education, our school will be equipped with smart boards and some equipment. Thanks to that, a very important step will have been taken in terms of widespread use of ICT. In order to obtain maximum benefit from this project, it is of high importance for us that our school personnel develop themselves in many areas such as using ICT in classroom assessment, designing audiovisual learning materials and in virtual learning. Given the fact that Erasmus Plus emphasizes its importance, it is agreed that our school should benefit ‘Mobility Project for School Education Staff’ and the personnel should attend to courses which enable them to learn these practices in place. Here the most important constituent element of the European Added Value of this project is that European Union Countries agree on encouraging creativity and innovativeness through the use of new ICT tools and teacher training as a part of priority areas in early stages of ‘Education and Training Strategic Framework’ (“ET 2020”). Fifteen people from our school will attend to the educational activities which are planned to be carried out under three different topics in European countries. Fundamentally, the main topic is ‘Dissemination of ICT Based Teaching and Evaluation Practices’ of these activities, which are divided into three subtitles; Developing Audiovisual Teaching Materials Using ICT Resources, Using ICT in Classroom Assessment and Evaluation Methods, Supporting Teaching Process by Virtual Learning. The activities will be beneficial to both teachers and administrative staff. Our school teachers will gain professional competence in transferring student notes and their personal and academic records to e-portfolio platform, in designing ICT based audiovisual teaching materials, and in transferring lecture notes, exercises and assessments to e-bulletin (virtual learning platform). As for school administrators, they will develop themselves in using database and software for data storage and organization and in informing parents on e-bulletin. The benefits of all these gains to our school in the short run are to support students in their learning process and encourage them to use ICT to help enhance their success. The expected gain in the long run is to become an innovative and leading educational institution that train students about how to learn, think, and use necessary technology in this process.
