Date du début: 1 août 2014, Date de fin: 31 juil. 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

Project background: Project background: The association „Die Kleinen Gallier e.V.“ operates two bilingual (German-French) day-care centres for different ages (from 18 month up to 10 years). In summer 2014 the different day-care facilities operated by the association will be combined in a new common building. This provides us the possibility to extend the care services offered and at the time to establish two new day-care groups. Main goal of the association is to train or to improve French language skills in an early age and to gain experiences with the French culture at the same time. This program is based on the concept that childes with both - a bilingual and with a German background - are organized together in one common child care group. The EFS volunteer will enrich the everyday life in the facilities with his language, culture and personal skills. Preferably, the volunteer will join the child care centre for a whole kindergarten year (12 month). The pedagogical concept of our services is a life oriented pedagogic with some situation oriented and intercultural elements. A unique feature of our association and within our day-care centres is the native life in a bilingual environment. Aim of the project: Aims are the daily exchange, the mutual learning, and the development of different skills of the volunteer. The volunteer will enrich the daily life in our facilities because of his language and culture. At the same time the applicant will learn the German language and will gain experience with the German culture. The volunteer will know the daily challenges of an educator. In the frame of his project the volunteer shall learn to be proactive and to develop and implement own ideas. Beside the daily duties of an educator, the volunteer will be integrated in our association’s life. This is also a chance to get experience with participative organised organisations. Number and profile of the volunteers: A maximum of two volunteers can be hosted. The volunteer has to have a deeper interest in working with kids and should speak fluently French. Description of planned activities: The volunteer will be integrated in one of our child care teams. The volunteer will learn something about the organisational structure of our child care centres as well as of our association. In addition, he will gain experience with our pedagogical concepts. The volunteer will also gain insights of different working groups of our association. In the first part of his activity the volunteer will accompany our educators by their daily work with the children. The aim here is learn something about the day by day work of an educator in a kindergarten and to gain first working experience under supervision. In the second part, the volunteer will develop an own project idea in collaboration with our permanent stuff and will develop this project. In the last part the volunteer will put his idea in to effect. At the end the volunteers’ project will be evaluated. Methods to operate the project: 1) Clear definition of responsibilities and duties between the out-going and the host organization. 2) Definition of a project plan, regularly documentation and communication of the progresses 3) Risk prevention and crisis management Results and impact: Our dissemination strategy includes the publication of our experiences with the aim to inform the public about the program and to explain its benefits. We see these benefits in − Cultural exchange and improving languages skills − Strengthen the European idea by realized European exchange − Personality development We hope that the volunteer can transfer a part of his “culture” to our association and child care centre and at the end to the children he will take care about. We also hope that the supervised children will remember the volunteer, will ask the volunteers about their background and home countries and will in this way realize the idea of a united Europe.
