The VHS Selb is a certified adult further education center. A multitude of educational opportunities in part or full time appeal to different target groups. However, training opportunities can only be as good as the employees who plan and execute them.Therefore, employee development has been a focuse of the VHS for a long time, and an annual employee's development plan is created within the QM framework. The aim of this project is to increase the further education program on an international level.Based on the growing international character of learning groups the highest priority objective of this project is to improve the intercultural competence also as competences dealing with xenophobia and social exclusion especially by working with disadvantaged participants. A better understanding of the special needs of the students is a basic requirement for the success of all educational courses on offer. Further education of the employees of the vhs Selb is not considered as a single measure, but as an overall system, where the planned training courses are interconnected, influencing each other using synergetic effects. Training courses are planned for all areas of the vhs: • Extended knowledge in international project management as well as competences in concept development of innovation for the heads of department. • for pedagogical employees new strategies especially in dealing with disadvantaged learning groups• For teachers a mix of methodology, didactics and technical inputThe project is scheduled for 2 years. It offers employees the opportunity to participate in international further education. Freelance lecturers as well as hired employees and executives are involved and able to apply for participation. Especially freelance lecturers currently not teaching in courses at the vhs Selb, but planning this for the future can also apply.A full-time project manager is available for the realization of the project. He accompanies the selection procedure at the beginning of the project. He is responsible for maintaining international contacts with educational partners, to contact if required new partners and to provide an overview of suitable educational courses. Furthermore he supports the employees in planning and organizing and makes sure that their absence does not lead to pressure on other colleagues. Project manager also guarantees the documentation and evaluation and sharing of results within and beyond the department. The project management is directly connected to the QM of the vhs Selb, and the results of the training courses are integrated into the strategic development plan. Different activities take account of the employee’s respective work: Shorter seminars are planned for management forces. Pedagogical employees and teachers can choose from different activities such as training courses with thematic or didactic contents or the possibility of lesson shadowing.With an organized and well-structured support of the employee's qualification, the quality of the consultations as well as the organization and realization of the training courses are constantly being improved.It is the aim of the project to increase courses on offer in new subject fields, to appeal to new target groups, to develop strategies for coping withtopical demands and a qualitative improvement of all training courses and consultations on offers.Particulary important are the new and soon expected contacts at European level which will be essential for upgrading the European educational network.
