A1: professional training in Hilderstone Christelijk Lyceum Zeist has the intention to introduce the subject of Science in the Junior area of the bilingual department in the school year 2015-16. For this subject the current subjects of technology, physics and chemistry will be integrated. The curriculum in the bilingual classes will be offered in English. Therefore the subject teachers need specific schooling in English to the level of proficiency. To realize this 5 teachers and 1 teachers' assistant need to be trained. Before starting this training, their general level of English has to be improved by means of a 6-day intensive course at Hilderstone, a language school in Broadstairs, England. Here they can also work on specific subject language. The subject, Science, will be introduced in the bilingual curriculum, so that pupils can receive extra lessons in English, and familiarize themselves with specific subject language. They will have the opportunity to work on joint projects with school pupils abroad during European exchange projects and in addition they will be better prepared to follow the subject in their senior years. A2: professional training of English teachers and preparation of a schooltrip for 3TTO pupils According to our school policy the teachers who teach in the bilingual department follow a professional training abroad once every 4 years. Next year 3 English teachers are supposed to do this. They want to visit a school in Sevenoaks or Eastborne to do job shadowing. The teachers whose lessons they will observe will not pay a return visit. These 3 teachers will also go to Cambridge to prepare a schooltrip for 3TTO pupils. This schooltrip will replace the current schooltrip and will be very valuable for the students who can improve their English and get acquainted with the English culture. They can (partly) prepare their FCE/CAE exams at a language school in Cambridge.
