Management is requesting that the French and German departments write a policy plan as they recently received a negative assessment of their approach as far as language of instruction is concerned. Two German and two French teachers will follow one week of job shadowing in England in order to gain the necessary knowledge and skills to accomplish this. These teachers will not only be learning from experienced teachers but will also be able to discuss in detail how to write the plan. The plan is aimed at all foreign language teachers in the bilingual department and upper regular school. Furthermore, the teachers will be able to improve their use of the English language and feel more included in the bilingual department. This is a definite advantage during participation in schooltrips abroad. The policy plan for language of instruction will be discussed with the bilingual co-ordinator and incorporated into the bilingual policy plan. All foreign language teachers will give their lessons in the relevant language and the pupils will, of course, profit from this. This policy plan could also be shared with other, interested bilingual schools.
