PROJET
TERMINÉ
This project, entitled "Well in your body, well in your head, well in your future", must tackle specific needs identified by our different schools : matters of behaviour, accompanied by the lack of physical activities and lack of education regarding healthy food habits that can lead to problems of self-consciousness, of motivation and therefore, to difficulties of social and professional integration.
An assessment of the current situation will help students to become aware of their weaknesses and encourage them to think of strategies to counteract them with the help of specialists such as nutritionists, sports coaches, business leaders and career advisors. The aim is to correct behaviours caused by an unhealthy way of life that can lead to physiological dysfunction.
The pedagogical and strategic approach will consist of incorporating each of the schools’ strong points as well as accessing local opportunities so that we can all mutually benefit from each other. The project should work like a mini company where each one will play a fundamental role according to their competences and rely on the other partners' expertise. A continual assessment will be set up on an individual basis (portfolio including self-assessments sheets) and on the relevance of the project (questionnaires, MCQ, tests, mood barometers, reports, juries composed of students and/or specialists). These will take place throughout the 2-year-long project in one of the countries involved in the programme and could be used as a final assessment.
The chosen countries are Germany, Spain, France, Ireland and Romania as they represent a great diversity as far as geographical backgrounds are concerned, as well as social, cultural and linguistic ones. The French and German schools have been working hand in hand for a few years now and have already been involved in a Comenius programme. Both these schools are located in a highly active economical region (the Rhine valley) that attract numerous immigrants that often experience integration difficulties.
Bringing their solid experience in this type of project, these two schools will nevertheless benefit from the newcomers, whose very different profiles will offer other outlooks. Ireland seems to have a more rural background, Spain is mainly focused on tourism and needs better links with the rest of the European Union. Finally, Romania, which is on the doorstep of the Near East, will bring the experience of a country that has recently joined the EU.
Activities will take place on-site in each school based on chosen themes that will include all their partners : nutrition / TIC / assessment for Germany, coordination / mini company / the work field for France, sport / blog / social network for Spain, assessment / websites and work platform for Romania and finally, communication / dissemination for Ireland.
During each visit, the host school will have to display its research and organise workshops aimed at incorporating the other partner countries into its research themes. The activities will have to be published on the website, or even on social networks to get feedback about the experiments undertaken and to benefit from better exposure.
After 2 years, the project should allow the students to attain a more responsible awareness as regards their physical well-being. It should also allow the next generation of students to benefit from it, not only in the schools involved but also in neighbouring schools. These, we hope, will have adopted new approaches, not only geared towards their nearest or furthest environment (i.e. town, region, country) but also at a European and even worldwide environment too.
The means and tools that will have been developed during the project will be reinvested, such as, communication medias, social networks, collaborative enerprise. This opportunity, to look outwards will involve numerous partners, directly and indirectly (pupils, parents, teachers, entrepreneurs, other schools, associations, municipalities, decision makers, etc).
